  1. Having the pistons checked soon, in the likely event that there is wear to the bores, what other 1.4 engines can be fitted with minimal hassle? Thanks
  2. The bottom end has pretty much gone on our Lupo. We have an AHW engine code Looking just to purchase an entire engine. What engine codes apart from AHW will fit? Thanks
  3. Right, so if i've changed this and the reading is still not moving from 0 what else could it be?
  4. Don't suppose you know what the sensor is called? And how you changed it? Cheers, Dave
  5. The temp guage has never worked on the Lupo. I have changed the coolant temp sensor and this has made no difference. What else could it be? Would it be a fault with the clocks? Cheers, Dave
  6. My GF's lupo today would not start. Nothing happening when turning the key. All the dash lights coming on. Left it for 30 mins and randomly tried and it started. Any idea what could cause this? Cheers, Dave
  7. 10w40. Was thinking 15w40? Whats the PCV system?
  8. Im not sure as my friend did the work. He is a VAG technician and said there were no issues with the piston rings. The headgasket has not blown, the car drives perfectly. Question is, what else apart from piston rings failing can cause burning oil? Bearing in mind the valve stem seals have all been replaced. The car is a 1.4 16v AHW engine code Would thicker oil help?
  9. Still have a bit of an issue with our Lupo. Basically i've had all the valve stem seals changed along with the oil seperator box and breater pipe. When the vavle stem seals were being done they checked the piston rings and they were fine. Still the car is smoking a little and within 6 days the oil level went from being fine after a top up to aout 3/4 full to the oil light coming on. What else could be causing this? It doesn't seem to be leaking, there is no oil under the car and it has only smoked a tiny bit! Im stumped!
  10. How much for the front fogs of they are in good condition?
  11. I've tried WD-40 and other penetration oil. Made no difference
  12. Key will not turn either way in the lock. How can this be replaced but still allow me to keep the original key? Cheers, Dave
  13. Need a new box the Lupo. Code is DXP. What other gearbox's will fit? Cheers, Dave
  14. As title. Anyone have any they wish to sell. Must be in good condition. Cheers, Dave
  15. For a 1.4 16v Lupo. Must be in fully working condition. Cheers, Dave
  16. Bit far from me, there is a local gearbox place that are good. Can they be rebuilt easily? Heard they are made of chocolate inside and not ideal to rebuild
  17. Lost 5th gear in the GF's lupo. You can select it but it is making a horrid noise. Can they be rebuilt or am i better off looking for a recon box? Can anyone point me in the right direction? Cheers, Dave
  18. Noticed recently when on the motorway if you let your foot off the throttle sometimes the revs will drop to 0, the engine will not cut out and as soon as you press the throttle again it picks back up. Any ideas?
  19. Since owning the car it has never worked. Any way to check why?
  20. What would I need to buy all together, would it just be piston rings and valve stem seals? Im guessing I would need a new head gasket as well. Am I also right in thinking the head would need to be sent off to be skimmed? I would be thinking of doing the job myself along with some help.
  21. Is it worth looking at trying to rebuild the engine? As in get new piston rings and valve stem seals?
  22. Hi, My GF currently has a Lupo 1.4 16v with AHW engine code. The car is smoking quite a bit and rather than try and repair it, I think it may be easier and cheaper to look for a new engine. What other 1.4 16v engines will fit without any issues? I don't want another AHW engine as I hear they're pretty pants. Ideally im looking for something that will drop straight in without having to mess about with anything. Anyone help?
