  1. Nighty night all speak again soon and thanks for all the help style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="sleeping.gif" />
  2. And another thing while I'm on the subject of Lupos Do Haynes plan to bring out a manual for the Lupo any time this century? style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":angry2:" border="0" alt="angry.gif" />
  3. No not fully out But if I had, it would have stalled - no question about it
  4. By the way how easy are timing belt changes? It looks as if the belt goes around the o/s engine mount Is this the case? Just did the handbrake test no joy, I didn't stall it but it would have done if I'd pushed it over the edge Thing is, I don't think a faulty tacho would explain the higher fuel consumption I'll see how it goes over the next few days, could just be that a bottle of STP Fuel Treatment is all that it needs
  5. Thing is there doesn't seem to be anything obvious wrong with it; if it was a blowing exhaust or a dead crank sensor (do they have crank sensors?) or the car was just generally lumpy or stuttering badly it would make things a bit easier. She did say it was using more fuel but if it's revving higher for the same roadspeed that would sort of make sense Just the usual whiney engine note like a startled hamster
  6. How do I post a new response within a thread? All I seem to keep doing is adding to my previous post style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />
  7. Yes just checked, she's definitely using 5th gear Shouldn't mock her too much, she's not THAT bad style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> Not quite with you Max; are you suggesting it as a possible line of investigation or are you saying that slipping clutch at high revs is improbable?
  8. I'd say probably yes Even she's not that technophobic style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> Anyone? style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />
  9. Hi my wife is complaining that her VW Lupo 1.0 is revving too highly for a given road speed; I took it out this evening and gave it a run around but couldn't really gauge anything from it as I'm not used to driving it and don't really know what it's supposed to sound like (apart from a sewing machine). She claims that instead of 3000rpm for 60mph, it now requires 4500rpm for the same speed. Any ideas where to start? Thanks in advance
