Trying to refurb some p slots...
NameIsNotImportant replied to NameIsNotImportant's topic in Styling
problem is im selling them, so I dont want to eat in to any profit I would make. i don't mind doing the work myself, it's just it's taking longer than I expexcted! -
and it's taking ages! I think they've been resprayed before and theres a fair few layers of paint on them. not to mention that the 'p's can be tricky to sand down properly. I was told to use 240 grit for first inital sand, but after one wheel i've managed to use 4 pieces (probably about 150mmx250mm). so my question is, can I just use paint stripper? if i can what would you recommend?

Can't afford porsche ones at the moment, I think they are nicer, but I'm looking to spend at most 300 quid for wheels and tyres. edit: Don't forget the adapters cost about 100 quid...

Currently looking at these alloys on ebay. (http://www.ebay.co.u...d=261160586222) Will they fit on my '03 1.0l? I know the pcd is 1.6mm out, but according to my dad they always allow a bit of clearance just in case. The ad also says they\ll fit a lupo, but my girlfriend says otherwise (she knows a **** ton more about this stuff than I do). Cheers.

You could just go to a dealership and order them from there. I got some for christmas and they cost 25 quid. bit more expensive, but they're pretty solid!

Bought my 53 plate with 47k miles for 2k. It wasn't exactly in pristine condition, i think I paid a bit more than average.

On the under-side of the bonnet i take it? Edit: Also, anything else I should be aware of? Should I just buy a bonnet off a scrapped lupo and cut out a segment of the bonnet to fit where the gap is?
-
What do you mean by 'plate'?

Hello again I've been having a look around on how to debadge the front of my lupo. I can find plenty of debadged grilles and bonnet bra's, but nowhere can I find what I'm actually looking for. Please, bear with me while I explain. On a lupo the front badge cuts up in to the bonnet right? So if I remove the current grille and insert a debadged one, there will be a small semi-circular hole in the bonnet where the badge used to go? I basically want to avoid this, but I have no idea how. I just want the bonnet flat across grille instead of having a small hump in it where the badge used to be

Spraypainting a primed wing mirror
NameIsNotImportant replied to NameIsNotImportant's topic in Volkswagen Lupo
Heh, yeah I wasn't too sure about how to spell it either. Ok cool, thanks for the advice, i'll give this a bash tomorrow. Getting pretty sick of hearing my wing mirror howl whenever I go over 50mph . -
Spraypainting a primed wing mirror
NameIsNotImportant replied to NameIsNotImportant's topic in Volkswagen Lupo
Wow thanks for all the responses, wasn't expecting this many! By 'clear', do you mean the laquer finish? -
Hi there! First post Recently I was a tad careless and I backed out of my drive and smashed my drivers side wing mirror on the bins. I've replaced the glass, but the cover actually blew off when I was driving when a lorry went past. So I've bought a new driver side wing mirror as well. The problem is the only drivers side wing mirror I could find was unpainted. Primed, but unpainted. What do I need to do so I can paint it properly? I've heard a lot about rubbing it down with wet & dry paper, as well as adding a coat of laquer on top of 3 light coats of the colour. Is this correct? I'm completely new at this, so I'd prefer not to balls it up the first time round and have an odd coloured wing mirror . Cheers!
