  1. It is still drivable, dont think it'll blow up unless you push it. Since the noise started I have been careful with my changes. They are going for around £2700 to £3200. Tax and mot out in January. So as a stab in the dark £1500..?
  2. So my diff is on its way out and recon or a replacement gearbox may as well be the best part of £1000 if I am lucky enough to ever find one. I love my Lupo and don't want to see it go but I don't think there is a cheaper alternative...? Its still drivable but mot is up in new year. Anyone know what sort of price I can ask for it? I know its a cheeky question but have no idea what it would go for with a gearbox noticeably on the way out. All is tip top apart from that. 2002 GTI. Thanks
  3. I have exactly the same problem as this. Do you only get this noise when you are in gear? Mine is doing this only when in gear, doesn't matter which. No noise in neutral or even when coasting. Seems like its only when pressure and weight is applied to through the gearbox. If I match the revs when in gear going down a hill so no weight or pressure is going through the gearbox the noise stops. It was a bit of a conundrum to everyone I took it to, no one could say exactly what it was. But the theory is that it could be the diff, for sure gearbox problems. I will be replacing but need to find a reasonable price for one. Does anyone know of a place that does good boxes for good prices? Will be fitting myself. Thanks
  4. Hi So I got myself a Lupo GTi and need 4 new tyres. I have got the standard Barthurst wheels and it would seem the 205 45 15 is fairly expensive and I have only got £230 of my budget left. Is the 195 45 15 the way to go? Or shall I just buy new wheels and tyres? Thanks
