  2. Sorry to pick on you, you obviously have a few problems. Autops sell them for £450 delivered, and we sell the for £425 and £10 delivery... but we're more expensive... style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wacko:" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" /> Your last comment makes no sense, we list ALL the current Schrick 2007 cams available direct from Schirck. The 256 cams you mention are not for the roller bearing heads, and the 281 doesn't exist period. Peter
  3. Is that based on fact or fiction? Schirck price for a pair of lupo GTi cams is 315+290 euro (605 euro) plus VAT @ 17.5% making the total 710 euros, excluding delivery, making it £479. We sell the pair of cams for £425 and £10 delivery.... a considerable saving. I asked for a quote from autops.co.uk, but they never got back to me.   6. Thing is, my car has 2kg of differance between sides at the front, and i doubt 2kg makes a whole world of differance with the current set-up. Your not wrong in what your saying, i agree with you, what i'm saying is my weight is split amost 50/50 at the front, probably 49.5/50.5 which is just the differance between me filling my washer bottle up or not... so what i'm saying is, there are no other factors that explain the wheel spinning on the left side first apart from the driveshaft lengths and thicknesses, (presuming they're also made from the same grade of steel) Yoof
  7. i know a few lads from mclaren that work in composites, tbh doesn't really interest me, but each to their own. but back to the point, un-equal length driveshafts will affect torque steer (and therefore wheelspin/tyre wear) no matter which way you look at it, all polos that i know of all spin their left front wheel up first. Now i agree with you, in alot of cases suspension geometry is overlooked and alot of people will find this makes the situation worse, i can say my car has spot on geometry (last time i checked, although not hit any kurbs or old people that i know of) and corner weighted, the only outstanding things making the left front tyre spin up are: 1) gravel always on left side of road?? - although does it at santa pod too 2) left tyre less grippy than right- although both purchased at same time and have same wear 3) left geometry/ shocks foobared - nope all nice and new 4) cv joints buggered- yes but changed the other week, so new all round 5) weighting of diff in box and driveshaft lengths are ones to blame, and even if you change the pre-load on the diff and mess around with lsds etc (not something i've had the money to do) you'll still experience the front left wheel spinning up. Now there's my reasoned argument, as an engineer i'm sure you can apprechiate it, torque steer will always be an issue, but something i'd like to understand more and actually try and do something about, failing that i'll stick the engine in the back and forget fwd style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":lol:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  8. Yes, my argument was they'd carry alot more than one, so no real advantage in having 10 of the same length, as to having 5 short 5 long.   9. Being as teams (i presume you mean vw racing etc) carry spares of each set and each side per car, it doesn't make a differance. There is rarely such a thing as 'equal length' driveshafts in FWD cars, as even though the shafts between ineer and outer CV joints can be the same, the total length isnt, as the differential is rarely central, so a linkshaft is used on one side. This creates a difference in torsional stifness betwwen L and R shafts, so during torque dynamics this results in differences in wheel end torques due to the shaft windup, and therefore torque steer. This can be reduced by trying to equalise the torsional stifness also, but is often difficult to achieve and crappy mcpherson sturts don't help matters in the slightest either, like amstrange rightly says look at any of the bigger power polos go down the drag strip, they will always spin the left front wheel first. not picking an argument but that doesn't stick with me, i had my car cornerweighted with me init and it was within 2kg of each other at the front... my front left still spins up first style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shades:" border="0" alt="shades.gif" />
  10. A very good friend of mine and brain child of quite a few vw creations. A certain yellow derby with a 2.0litre 16v in the back. Personally i'd trust john's knowladge over 99.99% of other peoples, but i'm biased and not looking for an argument.   11. oh dear snoopy, you really are in over your head. Why not just accept that Jez did a 15.9 1/4 mile? It been proven with a photo of a slip, maths proving its more than possible, but you still fail to see, i guess some people are born that way.

    standard... style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":coffee:" border="0" alt="coffee.gif" /> meh, I just said what my engine size was, they picked the class style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> I run a 50 shot with no problems, stick ontop of your ignition (spec it for 150bhp) and you'll be fine. a wideband is a very very usefull tool, and i can data log so know exactly whats going on. i run a nitrous pressure gauge, and am investing in driect port and a bottle heater at the moment, neither of which will be fitted to this engine though style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Okay then clever clogs, here it goes: by using the proepr forumlas: t (time taken) = 5.698s v (Final Velocity) = 85.88mph or 38.3917952m/s u (Initial Velocity) @ 1/8th mile = 69.53mph or 31.0826912m/s a (acceleration- being assumed for this case its linear) = unknown s (displacement) = 201.168m so: s= ut + 1/2a(t x t) which is equal to: 2(s-ut) = ax(t x t) a= 2(s-ut) / (t x t) 2(24.05882554) / 32.467204 which gives Jez an acceleration of 1.48ms-2 - which in all your wisdom Snoopy, you will agree is a perfectly attainable figure in the second half of a 1/4 mile run. so, just to prove i am right even more, lets work out the acceleration for the first 1/8th of a mile, again we'll take this to be linear. v= u + at therefore: a= v-u / t = 31.2928 / 10 = 3.12928ms-2 Which again, for the first 1/8th of a mile is a perfectly believable and valid figure. How about you show me with your clearly superior grasp of maths how it did? I Just did. We'll just have to agree to disagree. No, Just that you are wrong, and Jez hasn't made anything up.

Bahhahaha @ Snoop I have seen Jez run at least 3 15.9sec runs, all on different days, i find it highly amusing your grasp of maths cannot allow you to understand that his car did a 15.9 second pass.
