  1. Cheers for the advice Gargoil. I do hear the Evos are expensive to run and service etc. We'll see what the future brings.
  2. Gargoil, I was joking. I wouldn't even bother against an STI. You just wait til I get that Evo and whoop you. Anyone know an insurance company who will insure a 21 year old on an Evo? Crusoe, your estimations are rather crude methinks. The 225 S3 is definitely not 17.5 secs to 100, it's around 16. If you live near Manchester I'd be glad to let you have a ride (passenger of course) and you can time it. Well, I really don't want to get drawn into silly "my car is quicker than yours" arguments, but I must say that 17 secs to 100 is ****. I draw your attention to this article featuring an S3 (the old 210 one, the `bug-eye` Impreza and the Golf 4 Motion. Maybe this can clear up a few points about it: http://www.users.totalise.co.uk/~scoobydoo...b/reviews/trex/ http://www.users.totalise.co.uk/~scoobydoo.../trex/facts.jpg I quote here: "The real killer for the WRX is the Audi's massively greater flexibility at low and medium revs. Imagine trundling along at 40mph in fourth gear and then putting your foot down: in the Audi you take off almost immediately, in the WRX you have to first change down a gear simply to save yourself the embarrassment of watching the Audi scream into the distance. And even once you've done that, the S3 continues to edge away. Look at the `50-70mph` times in top gear if you want further proof. The S3 is a full two seconds quicker and that's in sixth gear, not fifth like the `five-speed` Impreza. In the real world that's a crushing advantage." Audi S3 (210 BHP) `0-62` in 6.4 secs `0-100` in 16.4 secs `30-50` in 4th (gear 4 of 6) - 4.7 sec Speed aside, it's got VAG build quality to boot. Sweet.
  3. What car do you have Gargoil? The S3 couldn't have been trying style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
  4. Trade your C2 in, get a Lupo, you know it's right! (p.s. I don't have a Loop before you start!)
  5. "it's surprised more than a few quicker cars off the lights in the last couple of weeks and I haven't even been rinsing it as it's still running in." What cars are they? You mean you beat Barry BMW in his diesel? You mean you screwed the balls off it from the traffic lights while he couldn't be arsed burning petrol to prove a point (like you probably did) to a lad in a little woman's shopping car. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  6. Hey Gargoil, (right now) hehe, I think autocar love the Clio 182 at the moment, it's never out of there. They rate them very highly. I think it's the one you mean also, with the racing stripes. A Clio would have been a cheaper option than the S3 for similar performance but I know I have chosen the better car. I will have the Audi for another 18 months or so now, then I want something even faster. It has to be sub 6 secs to 60. However, I suppose I should start looking into getting a house instead... That would mean settling down with the cars... Loop GTI? Clio 182! We'll have to see what kinda money I have, essentially I want the house, an EVO 330 or Prodrive Scooby STI next, it's just the insurance being under 25.
  7. I've got an Audi now (225 S3) and it's already been back a few times. Only with a few minor teething problems, I must add (new door lock, air con etc) and I suppose you get that with any new car. It's a curse I think that whether brand spanking new or just new to you, faults are guarateed when you get a new toy. Glad i got one with warranty left - but it makes me think... German for reliability...? Hehe.
  8. Gargoil you naughty, sarcastic boy. I `re-read` my post and then realised it said "right now" twice... oops! Oh well. I think the Lupo is such a nice car and `build-wise` is probably a lot more solid than the 182, but it's insane having 182 horses in such a small and agile little thing. I keep pestering my GF to get either one of them or at least a 172. I also really like that V6 clio but who could live with 2 seats?
  9. Sorry lads, I love the Loop GTI and I'd have one tomorrow but the Clio 182 is THE supermini right now. Whether popular or not right now, it's light years ahead of the Lupo GTI (and that's just on the road!).
  10. The Lupo GTI was featured recently in the Manchester Evening news (Friday 16th July). Anyone see it?
  11. Get the sport, 100BHP, very agile, very quick, very fun... a nice centre exhaust too (read the other post about the sport model!)
  12. Up until a few months ago, I was the proud owner of a 16V and I can tell you that, maybe it just feels faster, but I reckon that `0-60` time of 10 secs isn't correct. Your Lupo should kill the TDI, it is a (modern) diesel, and a lot heavier, and although the Paxo should be more competition, it shouldn't be a major problem. Even so, you have the knowledge of having a VW, and not a piece of ***** ****roen. Nuff said.
  13. "I think this might be a world first... A forum that hasn't said "Mines much faster" " That's on here isn't it? style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  14. I am unsure about suspension because I had mine hardened and lowered with Eibach springs, but in my opinion the 1.4 sport was an excellent car for me. Very very nippy, good handling, good build, no major tech probs etc... well understated and still a little `head-turner`. Obviously, everyone on here is GTI mad (range topper innit) but the 16valve is still a cool car!
  15. Nah, one was in front of me and the lights were on red on this main road. Then about a minute later a red one came up from behind and turned off onto another road. Anyways...
  16. Manchester, on the way to Ashton Under Lyne. I suppose if they were togethr you could understand it.
  17. I saw 2 Lupo GTIs yesterday. They weren't together. Was behind a silver one admiring it and then a red one went past. A rarity.
  18. Sounds like a plan then. I had my last exam last week hehe! Good luck then, and speak soon.
  19. Sounds good. Wouldn't mind being taken for a quick spin in the Loop one night (obviously not Tues/Fri). Would meet you there. Anyway, if you want to mail me it is moony_s8n@hotmail.com
  20. Yeah the floor had many ridges, I nearly tripped over on several occasions. Audi's stand was really disappointing I must agree. I asked why there was no Rs4s, A3s etc (in other words, their range of cars) and was told that their main intention was to promote the launch of the new A6. I think one A6 may have got the message across don't you think? What a waste of time that was.
  21. What a small world we live in!!! I have flashed you a couple of times while in the blue Loop and then I remember just last week parking up outside the spread eagle and hearing this noisy but very quick little thing `red-lining` it out off the estate... This will have been you also, a silver GTI. I don't actually live in Romiley. I live in Audenshaw (near Ashton `U-Lyne`) but I teach karate in the Spread Eagle every Tuesday and Friday and sometimes on a Saturday also, so that's why I am there. Been training since I was 9 (12 years now) and teaching since establishing the club in early 2003. It's a really enjoyable thing to do and really rewarding (not necessarily financially but training everyone up, especially the younger kids, having them do competitions etc.) My main status is a student at the moment though, but the club is money on the side, hence the cars. Can't wait til I have a main job also! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> We'll have to meet up, I wouldn't mind seeing your Lupo - definitely one of my favourite cars and I would still buy one when I get a full time job after finishing Uni. David.
  22. 666 on the plate yeah? The number of the beast?! How do I get pics online? What colour is your Loop.
  23. haha no way That IS ME!!!!!!! I will get some pics up. Yeah, the actual colour is dolphin grey, but yes, haha.
  24. A real big boys toy. I have only had it a little over a week now and have only been up and down the road. Ok, I am lying, I went to the Trafford centre in it on Wednesday but have had exams so haven't really opened it up yet (and it is bloody fast!)
  25. Yeah, I suppose I'll see you there one time. Women do love to shop! Will come and say hi anyway. You probably don't remember but it was probably you that time! I loved my Lupo and was sad to get rid of it. I always wanted a GTI before getting the 16V but only having 1 years NCB and being 20 I couldn't afford the insurance at the time. I built up another years NCB (now have 2 years) so wanted to go anoher, larger step up the rung. I'd come for a meet but I am an Audi lad now. Got my 225 S3 last week and loving it! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
