Misfire and 'spark' noise from engine?
Robynamanda1992 replied to Robynamanda1992's topic in Volkswagen Lupo
Thanks for the help to both of you. One quick question - would the coil pack and leads from a 1.4 16v Sport be the same as my 1.4 16v 75bhp? -
Hi there, My car has developed a misfire at idle (and occasionally when driving) but I've noticed that, when I open the bonnet and listen to the engine, there is a noise that sounds like a spark every time the misfire happens. Has anyone had this same problem before? If so, any ideas of what it could be? Many thanks.

Cambelt change (and tappets)
Robynamanda1992 replied to Robynamanda1992's topic in Car Care, Maintenance and Mechanical
Cheers. How much should I expect to pay roughly? -
Hi all, the tappets have given up on my car. I know the cambelt has to come off for this, so will obviously be getting that changed too. Do you need any specialist VW tools to time it back up, or can any decent garage do this? I won't be attempting it myself but am wondering if I can take it to my local garage to do or if a specialist would be a better option.

Top mounts gone?

Looks that way, however as you say... any excuse! They were next on the list anyway Many thanks for your help and the pictures. -
Top mounts gone?
Robynamanda1992 replied to Robynamanda1992's topic in Car Care, Maintenance and Mechanical
Thanks for the helpful post, just what I needed! It looks as though the metal 'dished' plate has snapped off the raised bit in the centre. Time for coilovers I think! -
I heard a big clunk from one of my wheels the other day, and the damper seems to have compressed quite a bit. Jacked it up, took the wheel off and there's a metal plate hanging freely at the top of my damper, which I assume is part of the top mount. My question is; IS this bit part of the top mount? Would buying new ones solve the problem? Genuine or aftermarket? (Yes I know that's 3!) All help appreciated.

Temperature sensor problem?
Robynamanda1992 replied to Robynamanda1992's topic in Car Care, Maintenance and Mechanical
Thanks all, will try that Is the temp sensor different to the thermostat? Where abouts is the temp sensor? -
Hi all. My temperature needle gets up to full temp no problems, but every now and again drops to zero as if a sensor has stopped working. The heaters are still warm even when it's at zero and occasionally it'll go back to 90 for a few minutes again, before dropping back and repeating. I've read a few threads about temp sensors/thermostats, but none with this problem. Which could it be and what needs replacing? All help appreciated. Thanks

Haha hello. Loved the car matey just been to Ed38 I'm guessing? -
Thinking of buying an Arosa with an auto gearbox, just wondering if they are prone to any common problems over manual. Any help/info will be appreciated
-
Yeah there's a fair amount of rust there! Any idea on a price for OE?
-
So my mate has told it it's a new droplink I need. Can anyone recommend a decent set that won't just snap straight away?
-
This kinda doesn't look good... What are my options? All help appreciated. EDIT: Been told it's a drop link?

Insurance is £4000 for a 1.0 lupo, any tips to get it lower?
Robynamanda1992 replied to Drew94's topic in Insurance
I was being quoted £4000 plus when I first passed my test, and everyone told me to wait a few months, and as much as it pained me to do so, I grinned and bared it and when I turned 19 in November, someone recomended LV to me and they got my quote down to £2000. That's what I'm paying on a 1.4 Lupo now. It's still an awful lot of money but it's got me a great job being able to drive and it makes paying £2000 a lot easier now. Hope you find a good quote! -
Is it still for sale?
-
I'd be interested in buying it! I'm looking for my first car and the price is ideal for me. I wouldn't be able to buy until the end of the month and I'd have to have a look at some insurance quotes first. If you have a mobile number I could contact you on, I can get back to you later today with more details about whether or not I could buy the car. Cheers, Robyn
