  1. Unfortunatley not as Lupo, but a GTI all the same.

Picked it up at the weekend, but only got the Autotrader pics atm:

    So it is:

    2000 Golf GTI

    1.8T (150 hp, ARZ engine)

    Full Recaro cloth interior

Clicked up 65,000 miles on the way back from picking it up

    Completley standard

    6 Disk changer

Unfortunately, good old VW build quality kicked in last night, and now im getting a hestitation around 4k rpm (supposedly MAF sensor on its way) and a squeak which I've been told is the clutch on the Aircon!

But for now im enjoying the comfort of the recaros and the quietness of a standard exhaust.

Plans are probably a CAI and Remap, Alloys and maybe coilies, just don't want to sacrifice the comfort, but need it lower!

  2. Just to add my 2p.

I'm looking for quotes atm, 20 yo, 3yrs NCB, looking at a '00 Golf GTI.

Adrian Flux, HIC & Brentacre are all within £30 of each other. (£740 - £770)

Brentacre offered free modified suspension, exhaust, alloy wheels, etc (whatever etc is??) cover included in the price! and where the cheapest of the 3.

Still looking around, but somehow, I don't think Ill beat that.

I remember from when I passed, the specialists where always stupidly high quotes, but once you have a few years NCB under your belt, there the only sensible ones. The cheapest quotes I get off price comparison websites is £1300 now.

One to look out for, which I haven't tried, and hadn't heard of until today is www.tiger.co.uk. You might want to give it a try.

  3. - spoke to jimmy carr after one of his gigs

I made a complete arse of myself speaking to Jimmy Carr the first time I seen him, slightly tipsy! Met him twice now, and i'm friends with him on Facebook! :D

I met Richard Noble, the guy that's building the Bloodhound car to go to 1000mph, at the Autosport show this year.

I got a certificate off the guy that designed this after a work experiance with an engineering company:

So no, no claim to fame as such!

  4. I just brought a loop for the MPG

    bought ;)

I got the best of both worlds when I sold the loop. Sold it to my brother with the specific instructions that when he came to sell it, he offered me it back first. Hopefully he'll keep it for a year or 2, until I've got space/money to keep it.

Thing is, now I've got to watch it get butchered :(

  5. To be honest, I don't think your going to get a conversion for that kind of money.

VR6 has been done, but consensus is its too heavy, and not that great for power. I've had a ride in it, and it was great fun, but I wasn't driving so cant give my opinion on that.

Polo GTI engine is probably going to be the cheapest conversion, but youve got to look at things like clutch and throttle body (fly by wire or cable, cable or hydaulic) if you can find an engine that matches what your cars got, it'll probably be alot easier and therefore cheaper.

  6. Has anybody done one? I can imagine a few have, but search function came out naa-daa!

Im owed a birthday prezzie of my dad from August, and been looking for one, preferably at either Oulton Park or Three Sisters during easter, or Mallory park after.

Anyone got any companies they can recommened, or ones to stay away from? The rally ones look like the best value for money, but I'd really like a single seater, or one of the single seater vs supercar ones.

  7. Reminds me of R20 DUB, one of my favourite non-gtis. Love the red, but think a bit more to tie it all in, maybe rear badge if your not going smooth?
