  2. took my loop (1.4 16v ahw) to get the timing belt and water pump changed at a small vw specialist. Got the car back and it was idling at 400 rpm when at 90 degrees before it idled at about 550 which i always thought was a little low anyway.

    So it sounded really rough like it was going to stall and i was getting weird feedback through the pedal when it was hunting. So i took it back and he was like 'sorry, i'll check the timing, it might be a tooth out'.

    So if it's a tooth out what does that mean for the engine, damage? wear on the cams?
