tell him how much then, it annoys me when people say just give me an offer because 99 times out of 100 its going to be way off from what the seller wants, just say how much to make it alot easier
  3. how longs a piece of string springs to mind whenever someone asks how much a respray is i'll make it a little easier to understand, there are a number of things that can change a quote, prices from north to south of country vary, going to a big insurance approved bodyshop or a small backstreet bodyshop, what colour the car is in the first place, what colour the car is going, if there is any damage ie rust/dents/accident damage, if any body mods are to be carried out, wether the whole interior and engine bay are being painted or just door shuts/back of doors etc, wether all parts are going to be removed and painted or painted on the car, if its just a straight solid/clear over base colour or a special pearl/candy also taking it to a big insurance approved bodyshop might get it done quicker than a small bodyshop but from my experience the smaller bodyshops will take more care and pride over the job wereas big bodyshop will just want it in and out and done to get the next car in as quick as possible which can lead to poor workmanship/quality
  4. 25L compressor, about 5-6 years old, not used for a few years but does power up, will be cleaned up before sold £50ono collection only unless you arrange courier but will need to be paid for before address is given to arrange courier
  5. nope, just jack up and adjust the platform, abit easier if you remove the wheel
  6. you can just adjust the spring platform
  7. actually that audi bumper for the lupo is probably closer to 'euro' look than just smoothed bumpers because if you go to mainland europe, spain/france for instance they are into the big kits and lairy paint jobs when i went to a show in france last year and the french/spanish heard an english person say euro look they couldn't stop laughing
  8. are you still going on about your written off gti? i read you'd bought a clio so stop mopping about your gti

  10. well professionals don't wet sand between coats, if you take your time and use correct products in the correct conditions/temperatures then wet sanding between coats is just a waste of time
  11. roof around £120-140 door around £80-120
  12. gloss remains much longer? again that isn't anything to do with wet sanding between coats sanding between coats is not needed and is just a waste of time, surely if it was the case then every bodyshop in the country would wet sand in between every coat of paint but none i have worked at over 10 years, nor any mates work at do it painting in the right conditions/temperatures is what is needed to retain gloss and thin even coats aswell as good products
  13. if you have a carpet in the boot then pull that out and trace around if not get some cardboard and make a template of the boot floor
  14. hahahaha welcome to 2006
  15. this isn't true, when i was studying body repair/refinishing in college we did an experiment as part of our coursework, we painted 4 panels, 2 by gun and 2 by rattle can 1 gun panel and 1 rattle can panel was not wet sanded between coats, the other panels were wet sanded between coats and there was not a noticeable difference between the sanded between coats and not sanded between coats panels only reason you would need to sand between coats is because of runs/sags/dirt in the paint

  17. you will need around 180-240 grit to sand down metal filler/filler where i work prices start at £100 for set of 4 wheels to be done
  18. build thread from day 1 for it on edition
  19. prices of refurbs depend on what exactly you want doing to them, if its just a simple repair of the kerbing and painting silver then it can be around £30-40 a wheel some places, but its when you want them doing other colours or multiple colours that the price goes up due to material cost aswell as more man hours making up and painting another colour etc
