  1. It took me well over half an hour to get the switch out of the carrier and about ten mins to get the switch apart after that. If you're getting one out of the drivers side it's realively easy to get the second out. I used a butter knife and a set of jewlers screw drivers. Once they were out I had a scower (poor spelling) and got all the dust and old owners bogies out. Working well now though. Disconnect and reconnect the battery to reset the window module. Better to start on the simple checks. Then check the fuse. Simples but always seems to be the way.
  2. Rear washer hose has a connector on the rear left behind the plastic panel to the left of the rear passenger seat. Just take all the trim off in that area. Mainly methodical clips and a couple of screws. Should be resting on top of the wheel arch. Just needs popping back together. I used to have the same problem.
  3. I've taken both my front calipers off for a general check and service. Front calipers don't need a rewind tool, well mine didn't should be able to just push them back with the cap off the brake resevoir but make sure it doesn't overflow. Caliper carriers on my old car (Landy) were 82nm. So I use the same with some loctite 270. All is well with mine. Walk though. Jack up Take wheel off Take off bolts which attach caliper to carrier Bosh it all off Really it's just looking at what needs to be taken off
  4. Even with my right foot planted I'm still getting 37mpg. Tested for a whole tank. Clearly I was just performing tests. (Urban cycle)
  5. This is rather crazy I think. I've really done my homework on economy driving and I love having an eco race. A while ago I posted about my car doing rather awful fuel drinking. The general consensus was that "it was a sport" and therefore would be bad on fuel. I'm glad to report this was not so. Recently I service my loop and had a go with the infamous Forte Advance Engine Flush. Wacked a bottle in and ran for 45 mins. Oil came out minging considering I'd only changed it 5000 miles ago. I used to get 65-70 miles per quarter tank if I drove like a SAINT. Now I'm pushing 85-90 very easily and on my most recent fill up averaged 49.23 MPG I read an article in the paper this weekend about an AA eco-driving course. Now I don't think I need this but they recommend changing from 1st to third and then to fifth, skipping out the even gears. I'm going to give this a go this week and see what happens. I have no ties what so ever to Forte but this stuff paid for it's self in the first week and I can whole heartedly recommend it next time you do an oil change. Also having a binding right front caliper must be halming it some what. Anywho I'm on to a winner!!!
  6. I work for an insurance company. As said earlier they will have all the calls recorded. If you can find out when your father made the call under a "data request" the have to supply you with all the details/notes and calls they have dealt with. Depending on what the calls say/notes show you may have a case. Data request costs a maximum of £10. Aviva would rather sort it out themselves rather than pay a £500 case fee at the ombudsman.
  7. I'm going to be doing the same as this at the moment. Just a few questions With the engine mounts, where did you get the steel mount from that the main mount is located on. Was it fabricated or off another car. How did you use mock up the correct engine location. Cheeky tape measure? And roughly without being rude how much are you paying to get the loom sorted and are you running a demobilised ecu. Last but not least what's the deal with the drive shafts and cv's. Thanks chap - can't wait to get this done.
  8. Can I have a pic of the engine bay and the interior of the silver one. Thank you What's the price without the stereo in.
  9. price reduced to £2000, someone must want my lupe
  10. Morning I'm got a quick query. Yesterday I looked at a lupo TDI. When I started it it sounded like a blasted tractor. Now because it's a 3 cylinder diesel it is suppose to sound like this. I'd just like to hear what other peoples engines souns like before I make an informed purchase. When it was warm it was slightly quieter but still vibrated like a lunatic. Any ideas, videos or sound clips Thank youuuu
  11. I spoke again to VW today to see if they had got anywhere with my claim. I advised them there are a number of individuals going to watchdog about this issue and was told volkswagen will no be back into a corner. The case manager I currently have is trying to impliment methods of thinking outside the box and trying to currently bring the best customer service. Fair enough. I quoted the message I had received on my phone and again was told the member of staff who had left it was quite new. This time he seemed to have more idea about what I was claiming for. Maybe he was scared by my last blast down the phone. Apparently there is a difference between a good will gesture and it being covered under warranty. Warrenty comes from the team in Milton Keynes and a GWG comes from the customer services team. What circumstance would a good will gesture be given out on? Again I was asked if I had received a quote on getting the work done. I had to reply no as I am planning to get it done through the warrenty. I offered to go in and get a quote if needed. I asked about email again saying I would just like them for evidence and even if there was a queueing system for emails going out I don't mind waiting as I'm in no rush. He said once the case is resolved he could send me a comcluding email with all of the infomation in. I'll stay for however long it takes to get done. I admitted I would just get the work done through my work if they said no as VW would be too expensive, however I have no plan of doing this. I'm claiming through them :-) I have been promissed an update by friday and if it's still a no then I will do the watchdog
  12. Here's one for you then I have solid head rests and the later edition dials. My car is 100% standard unmoulstered
  13. I quote "I just need to discuss the discision made regarding the good will descision for the corosion on your vehicle" That implied something entirely different to what I was told yesterday does it not? Fantastic. I'll also do a watchdog if you want to pop the template up here. In my experience from working with complaining customers evidence is exactly what you need. They should be recording all calls we have to the centre and we are able to file for a data request at the maximum cost of £10 which would enclose all contact we have had with volkswagen regarding this issue. I am using a camcorder to record the messages left on my voice mail.
  14. I have a w reg sport registered in march 2000 and it doesn't have the panels for speakers in the rear. What sort of head rest do you have? Mins are solid and other peoples have loops. <hehe loops. Maybe they made a change at somepoint?
  15. Just to give you a quick update/ maybe not so quick. I had a call from my case manager a couple of weeks ago saying she was going to liasing the the retailers and the body shop and looking further into why my claim had been rejected. They asked me how long I had owned the car for and obviously I was honest so they never have anything they can pinch me on. Replying november. I've done an HPI on my car and know it's clear. In all fairness the lady who was dealing with my claim was very attentive and from a customer service point of view I have been very satisfied so far aside from the rejection of my claim. Last friday I got a message from the case manager saying that she would like to call me regarding the "good will gesture" and she was going to be away. Unfortunately I was abroad when I got the message so was only able to call back yesterday. Good I thought though, a good will gesture being mentioned is a good sign. There is no beating about the bush it has been mentioned. I called back yesterday and spoke to the CM who had been asigned this whilst she was away. I called at 12 to be told he was on his lunch and requested a call back at 4:30 when I finished work. At quarter to 5 I still had not had a call back so called the number from my mobile and then asked to be called back. I started off by discussing the message that had been left on my phone about the GWG. He said there was no indication of a GWG and that she had called to say it wasn't covered. Slightly different tone to how the voice mail came accross. He then went on to tell me that my case manager was new and maybe she had made a mistake and when I asked if their staff were trained he left about 15 seconds of silence and I had to say "hello" to get his attention. Next I was told their "tech guys" had looked at the 6 images send to VW and they had concluded my vehicle had been resprayed due to the paint depth. I haven't owned the vehicle since new so don't know but respray or not their layer of paint is still underneath if it has been covered. No respray would take the roof gutter back to bear metal. Continuing he said the corosion was not cause by the metal underneath but offered no explanation as to where it was coming from. When I challenged this and advised of their paint still being there and they it would be impossible for it to come from the paint he possibley stayed silent for another 30 seconds. "The dealer thought the same as our tech guys did" When I asked what the garage had actually said he went silent again. "hello" I said to make him break the silence. "I'm reading the report." He actually never told me what the dealer had said. Bearing in mind they literally saw the car for five minutes. There is no break in the paint at all. I advised I was doumenting on here and he said "you can find lots of bad things about cars when you google them." Yes but not 24 pages long. I asked to be contacted via email as I can do this whilst at work to which he replied "I would rather not send you emails if you're documenting them." I would just like to think that emails given out by vw contain correct infomation and not something they might regret saying at a later date. I asked if I could please have the complaints procedure sent to myself to which I got the answer "you've followed it" and another silence. blah blah......I said I wanted to be satisfied with the outcome and I would like him to look into it again and left it in his capeable hands for an update today. I HAVE RECEIVED NO UPDATE TODAY. I am more than happy to go watchdog and am going to get this sorted. Sorry for a rant but I need to document this somewhere and hopefully it is useful for others aswell.
  16. sorry matey. Unless a TDI lupo comes along as a swaparoo I'm needing the money
  17. This isn't a bump, mearly a poke in the butt for the car.

    SOLD!

Unfortunately it looks like I'm not going to be able to sell my car in time and dont have enough savings. Put it on the Market in 2 months and I'll take it off your hands PROMISE. I'm bloody gutted I can't buy your car. Would have gone to a good home
  19. Right, This breaks my heart to have to do this but Lemmy Lupo is having to go. Needing to buy a diesel as doing more mileage than anticipated. A little history on the car since I bought it. I've had her since November 2010 and purchased her with 63000 on the clock. First thing to do was a fault thermostat, done at about 65000 I also did a complete rad flush at the same time. Did a full service, mobil 1 oil, plugs, air filter at 66001 although I didn't reset the service light stupidly but I have receipts for the goods Fuel filter done at 71002 Car has just gone through MOT for which I fitted a new lambda, new cat, had the head light adjusted. At the same time I had both of the front wheel bearings changed and have had brand new rear discs and pads. Have also put in new K&N panel filter only about 2000 mile ago. Brand new carpet set in January. Brand new HT leads 1 month ago Brand new Ignition coil 3 months ago Tracking has also been done at the same time as the MOT. Body work is in stupidly good condition apart from a tiny bubble in the roof gutter, currently chasing for warrenty with VW. Lemmy has 6 previous owners and the people I bought her from were only selling due to an increase in family size. I've included photos of everything on the car even the tiny little dings on the door where my EX girlfriend opened it. On the rear left corner the bumper is a little faded possibly from a previous repair and on the boot corner there is a wincy square of overspray. Also the left mirror needs respraying as it has also faded much like the bumper. I've been quoted £30 for this. She is HPI clear and I have print out to prove. All in all this is a truely fantastic car with 12 stamps in the service book. I'm only selling to get a diesel. Cheeky extras I forgot to mention, remote locking kit. I'll throw in the boot popper I haven't had time to fit. £2200 or very nearest offer. This car books at £2500 with electric sunroof I'm sure you can see I love this car, I want it to go with someone who has the same passion hense advertising on here. Car is very clean, Mother says I have OCD with it. I will be taking the stereo and cup holders out and putting the original 6 cd units back in. Player was an 18th present you see. You are also allowed to have the random plate on the car maybe you're a lej'end? Personally if your looking at an insurance quote, elephant is cheap currently Any questions drop me a text 07969643783 or have a cheeky post

    SOLD!

Hi buddy. When was the remap done? Why are you selling the car. Can you post a few more photos of the front end of the car. What quality is the front and respray and is there any kind of over spray, I'm quite anal about stuff like that. Has the tracking and camber been set up properly since the coilovers being fitted. Any advisories on previous MOTs. And last but not least, is there anything even slightly wrong with the car, even the tiniest niggle. I'm interested providing I can sell my lupe. TIA
  21. Forgot to add, does anyone have the warrenty policy as I would like to have a read and highlight the downfalls if they want to argue. Also the lupo service charter. I want to know if it had full VW service history would they have specifically been periodically checking the gutter on the roof. I sound like a winey bum hole but I just lurve my loop
  22. Quick update. Bit of bad new really although I am going to get this sorted if I have to pull teeth. Had a call from the guy at Beadles Sevenoaks today, really nice chap and a pleasure to deal with. VW said no to my roof!!!!!! I asked if they have supplied a reason as to why to which he said all they had said was no.......that's it. That miffed me. I understand the paint depths were a little over what it would normall be but I would like an explaination. Thanking the guy a beadles for his work he gave me the number for customer services/relations. He must have been confused as to the rejection also. Gave them a call and got through straight away which was nice and they seemed to be open after 5 when I got home. Spoke to a helpful lady. Wasn't able to find my lupo for love nor money. Personal plate, original plate, vin number, absolutely nothing and apparently their older vehicle system was down. She set up a case for me saying that it would be assigned a case manager who would look into this and get back to me. Essentially I spent 34 minutes on the phone getting this set up. She asked if I had bought my car from a vw dealer in November. Well hard to believe but when on earth did you last see an 11 year old Lupo for sale on a VW forecourt. She asked if VW had supplied a quote for the work. I said no I had no intention of paying for the work, something which seemed to confuse her. Then the inevitable service history question came, I admitted it didn't have a full VW history as I wouldn't want to get caught out being deceiving later on in the process if this has to go to CSR and they really looked into it. No problem though I specifically asked her to make notes that I don't care how long it takes to get sorted I want it done, my car is in immaculate condition and I would like a reason for the rejection of my claim. At one point she commented on the paint dept of the vehicle obviously not knowing too much she said, "it could have had a respray, how could you tell if it had been sprayed originally and then hadn't had a respray 3 years later or something." I had to start a rant about how I work with cars all day and know my stuff about paint atomisered and the difference between that and a spray gun not in a factory environment. TOOL I am going to be hearing back next week on about Tuesday so I'll keep update. VW know I am documenting it on here also but I got given standard "we advise against forums waffle" Long rant but hopefully it will prove valueable to someone in the future. I'm not reading this though as I'm bored of the voice in my head saying this
  23. Just been to Beadles. The chap here didn't ask anything about my service history. He only wanted the VIN and the mileage. He took a couple of photos of the rust. The chap did a paint depth check also. Mine came back as 181 and he went hmmmm normall they are between 75 and 115 and suggested VW wouldn't do something they hadn't painted originally. As you would expect really. He then checked all over and the rest of the car seemed to have a uniform about 180. Should hear back next week sometime which would be lovely if they are able to do it.
  24. I'm going to get my assesment done on Lemmy this friday at Beadles in sevenoaks. Said they would have to get the bodyshop managers to look and stooooff. Hopefully it'll get done. They sound like nice chaps so ope for the best. Mine is on the panel on the top of the door and the roof it's self. If they are paining the roof rails I'd expect them to blend and paint the panel next to it. I think they'll kick mine out though because yellow is a bum hole to match
  25. I thought the one on the dash was coolant, I read nothing and then replaced my thermostat and got the proper reading. Just having a quick gander on ebay it looks like there are two shapes of sensor. It'd be good to know what systems on the engine could possibly lead to running rich. I'd assume maybe EGR/Sensors/injectors, air meter if it had one (i don't think it does though) God knows
