  1. not losing water, apart from when it boiled out as steam yesterday. no oil loss either. I'll give that a go mate, cheers!
  2. I would sell it to him but I had no idea what it's worth when it's needing this work. I've just checked my head gasket through all the usual looking for white mayo or any dirty water but it all looks sound, had it running for 15minutes and didn't overheat and all the blowers ran hot. About to try taking the coolant tank lid off and squeezing the radiator pipe to see if boiling water comes through. The only thing that's missing is the fan coming on, maybe it's just the fan wiring that's gone? Could that be what is causing the problem? It works when I attach a live wire straight from the battery to the fan.
  3. sorry should probably have added that originally! he said for that it'd be around £500 which for that money I might as well get a new engine fitted as mine has already done 120,000. he didn't say as he has no idea what it's worth, so I said I'd ask you guys on the forum and let him know, the garage is small independent one and family friends that have always worked on our cars so don't wanna mug anyone off with price. the car is in good condition, had loads of prior work done to it. here's the advert: http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?app=classifieds&module=core&do=view_item&item_id=863
  4. Hey, haven't posted on the forum in a while but I am looking to sell my Lupo. It's a 1.4 16v S, I was showing a friend round the car when it suddenly started to increase temperature and steam started to come out from the coolant bottle. I took it to my usual garage today and the mechanic thinks the fan wiring had gone and caused the head gasket to go too! I've attached a live wire straight to the fan so it's constantly running and took the Lupo for a spin, doesn't seem to be overheating much over the normal temperature. The fan isn't spinning as much as it would normally so maybe a new fan+wiring would sort it? Anyone got any ideas? How much would my Lupo be worth with it needing a new fan and head gasket? One of the mechanics said he'd have it off me to put his 1.8 20vt in so I could cut my losses and sell it to him cheap, or fix it all and end up spending a fortune? HELP.

  11. still got the passenger door and wing mirror?
  12. okay got them sorted thanks for the picture man! didn't realise there was hooks for the loop in the clip to fit on aha. will test them tonight now with extra brilliance bulbs pointed at the road this time
  13. thanks alot man! just got back from driving home from telford and the darkness wasn't good when my bulbs were pointing in funny directions! I'll give it a go tomorrow, there's never enough room for me to see what's going on though :\
  14. just looked and one of my bulbs has fallen back abit. can't seem to get the little metal clip back on :\ anyone know how they fasten?
  15. i thought it was just the silly chavvy bulbs that were in my headlights but they're still majorly crap compared to my 6n2 polo's lights. going to test them out on country lanes tonight in proper darkness so we'll see how they perform then! headlight adjuster doesn't seem to do anything either, not good when you NEED to see upcoming potholes in the dark, not to mention roadkill that wants to break a hole in my sump.
  16. just wondering what everyone thinks of the headlights on their lupo? mine are terrible! the last person who had my lupo had some bluey white bulbs in so i thought it must just be because of the crap bulbs but after replacing them with some extra brilliance bosch ones i still cannot see a difference :s apart from there seems to be a crescent of light on the floor towards the right headlight. does being slammed have anything to do with it? full beam isn't much better.
  17. i have to punch my door before using the driver's side window :') otherwise the switch doesn't work. good job my interior is flocked to cushion the blow (kind of)
  18. I'll give that a try if sfs is no good mate cheers
  19. I emailed sfs yesterday and they've just rang back and said I could straight swap it over, which is a relief as I saw nothing about returns on their site and thought maybe they were made to order to I couldn't return it! definitely the 70-63 then? is that fitting to a 1.4 btw? not sure if the gti is bigger? I have a 1.4
  20. or if you could take a look at http://www.sfsperformance.co.uk/motorsportparts.asp and see if they do and i just can't find it. do i need a reducer elbow or just the same size on both ends?
  21. ****. i've got a 76-51 :\ where can i get the right one from? sfs don't seem to have that part :s
  22. does anyone know which silicone hose was used in this guide: http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=43238 need to order one from sfs but i don't know the exact bore, wall size or lengths :\ thanks!
  23. still got the engine and ecu mate? where are you located?
  24. my mates got just the box, filter element. anyone know where I can get the pipes to attach it to the throttle body? and anything else I need to fit it?
