  1. Nice choice. I was looking at one too after selling my lupo gti. I looked at everything in this price range including the mk5 gti and the megane. Eventually this won after a hard fought battle!

The St would be my second choice and still would like to give one a try. The has been great so far. Weird going into a totally illogical interior after the Lupo which just made sense. That's my only niggle. Am loving the handling and the torque and am thinking of tuning when the warranty runs out.

  2. Please could somebody do a picture of a yellow lupo with some dark blue g60 wheels and with white wall tyres on...

    thanks sam

Alright Sam, it's Dave (biking Dave!), which wheels is it, the steelies with holes in or the spoke ones? Am bored at work, so can do a bit of photoshop work.

  3. Lol, loving the melons tee hehe.

If you want me to print some up, might be best doing it this way (as I'm pretty fussy abut well fitting tees as I'm a skinny twonk):

I might get one printed up at my local t-makers http://www.appliqueapparel.co.uk

They're only round the corner from my work in manchester, I think they'll print onto any tee you want, so I might take a H&M one that I know fits and give it a whirl.

If you (or anyone else) wants one, maybe you could send me the tee (so you know it fits right), i'll get it printed, send it back to you?

Pretty sure it'd be under £20 ish, but i know my friend did a bulk order and it was under £10 each, I'll confirm that on Monday tho...

    Cheers

  5. Don't mind that roof with the grey at all. The white pearlescent shows off the curves really well though, and the red looks nice too. Hmmm, tough decision!

Bit too low for real roads surely?

Does look nice, I think thats the first funk white car I\'ve seen without stickers, I\'ve seen a primer grey one without them and that did look sleak.

Personally, on mine I\'ll just have to have the red Abarth stickers on the side, but no scorpion or chequered roof nonsense. :)

Edit, found those grey pictures, although it does have the silly roof...

  6. It didn't feel long geared at all, I doubt I'd miss the 6th cog. The ride was harsh but I'd be going for the 16inchers I reckon, so that wouldn't be a problem. I'm still thinking about it (plus Auto Express has the essesse version in this weeks mag, which gets a good review) and want to go back and ask for another test drive! In one with all the bits working, with 16inch wheels.

I'd go for the light grey colour, which I haven't seen yet, with the 'mag' style grey wheels with red leather interior.

Like Crusoe said, the dynamics of a car nearly 10 years newer than the lupo can't really be compared. What is good is that the 500 is still relatively lightweight for a modern motor, not much heavier than the gti but feels solid and well built (as far as the door slam test goes), so best of both worlds really.

  7. Was really looking forward to it as if 'feels' like the natural successor to the Loop gti. To be fair it was only a 20minute drive around the outskirts of Manchester but my first impression was that you sit on it rather than in it. The lupo doesn't have the lowest seat in the world either but this was just too high. The ride was pretty shocking, this one had the 17inch wheels on and you could feel every little bump. I don't mind sporty but I think it would get irritating. I don't know if the suspension is softened with the sport button unpressed (I don't think it is). The rev counter/ turbo pressure dial wasn't working, neither was the central locking or radio. I guess these are just early car niggles but it doesn't bode well for that great new car ownership feeling!

On the plus side the exhaust sounded great, the engine was nice and torquey from low down (more so than the loop) and it felt fast, so much so that the trade plates were threatening to eject themselves from the front and rear of the car! Oh... and I tried to put into reverse whilst doing 70 - thanks to reverse being where 6th was in my lupo! Oops.

So a mixed bag, looks lovely though... still not sure about swapping.

  8. Hi,

Just a quicky. Does anyone know what I need to do if my water temperature icon starting flashing (behind the rev counter)? It started halfway to work this morning, I don't have the manual with me and have to drive the car home. The temp gauge itself hasn't moved from dead centre, so I don't know whether to be worried or not!

I'm going to check the water level tonight when I get home, just to be on the safe side.

    Any help, greatly appreciated!

    chaaars

    Dave
