  1. Do you have aircon? My lupo started smelling eggy at about the same time the aircon packed up. Maybe it's the refrigerant leaking out. Getting it serviced in 2 weeks, so i'll give you the verdict then.
  2. Thanks for the quick reply. I've checked all the visible connections to the airbag, and they all seem OK. The good news from your comments seems to be that if the system logged a transient fault, the light will stay on until reset, even if there's nothing wrong now. I'll just ask the dealer if he'll reset it for free then, as I've had all my services & MOT there, and they have been quite helpful so far (one of the better ones, going by some of the posts). Just out of curiosity this time, do you know what that pipe through the bulkhead is actually for?
  3. In the passenger footwell there's a black plastic tube which passes through a rubber grommet in the bulkhead into the engine compartment. There are no wires or tubes on the engine side, so I assume that this is some kind of vent or drain. Anyone know what it's for? I used this grommet as a handy way to get some extra wires through the bulkhead, as there is plenty of slack. However, after doing this, the airbag warning light won't go out. I've removed the wires again, but the light is still on. Have I upset something delicate with all the associated poking about? One other factor is that I removed and replaced a lot of fuses at the same time, could this be a factor? I'd appreciate any advice from the experts on the forum, before i have to resort to the local dealer.
  4. How did you manage to get a copy of the manual? What is the filesize, can it be `e-mailed`, or is it posted online anywhere? Sorry to sound pushy, but it seems a really useful tool for planning all sorts of mods.
  5. No. It comes through the bulkhead in the passenger footwell, runs under the passenger door, then up the side of the LH rear seat into the pillar and so to the top of the tailgate. There is a push connector behind the trim next to the rear seat - mine came apart and soaked the LH rear footwell carpet. Check if yours is damp before you start pulling things apart though, as there may be another connector further forward.
  6. Just needs some Phillips "silver vision" indicator bulbs now, to lose that blue look from the front.
  7. I got condensation in my brake strip, which blew some of the LEDs. Probably had been faulty for a while, but I didn't notice. As it was just out of warranty, I tried to open it myself, but this is IMPOSSIBLE. It seems to be glued in. Took it to the dealer, and they had to remove the whole spoiler to get the light strip out. It took them all afternoon, but they only charged 1 hour's labour, probably due to embarassment. Get it done under warranty if you can, otherwise I hope your dealer is as bashful as mine. I recommend everyone to check for this problem just before your warranty runs out. Do you mean the side lights, rather than dipped beam, as the latter is part of the Xenon unit? The side lights are in the same reflector as the inner main beam bulbs. If you do, you just need to pull them harder, especially the first time. I replaced mine with white LEDs, which don't look yellow next to the Xenons - much smarter.
  8. Has anyone actually measured the pressure losses through tha standard and aftermarket induction systems over the rev range? Everyone seems to have opinions on the best upgrade, but there's nothing like a few hard numbers to prove a point.
  9. There's another short stubby `closed-end` pipe coming off the intake duct, just after it comes through the bulkhead from under the front wing. Any idea what this is for?
  10. Undo and remove the 2 screws inside the hand pull recesses - you'll need a star driver for this. Then pull the bottom of the trim away from the tailgate, untill all 3 lower pop clips detatch (don't pull it any further than necessary to do this, or you'll break the plastic lugs further up). Next lift the trim upward -or what would be upward if the tailgate were closed (i.e. towards the window). As you do this some more pop clips on the top edge of the trim (next to the window) detatch. It may be necessary to bang the bottom edge of the trim upwards quite hard with your hand to undo the clips. Then it just lifts off. When putting the trim back, check that the rubber sealing strip is properly in its groove at the top; it has a tendency to fall out. Also, the pop clips can sometimes break, so you might need a spare or too, but this is a lot less likely if they are warm. So do it on a sunny day or in a garage, and definitely not when there's any ice on the car.
