  1. totally agree; the mini is common as muck; looks/feel of the lupo, inside and out kick the mini's backside in my eyes - the little touches it has, the ergonomics, that kinda cheeky "mini r32" front end...but it's the power and handling of the cooper s, not to mention the tuneability, that threatens to lure me...could i be leaving V.W. after 19 odd years? answers on a p.m. please - preferably asking to come purchase my lovely little red go kart before i change my mind again lol
  2. cheers chap - i love them in red - had to wait a while to find a decent one as well! bar the roof respray, this one is on all orig paint/panels - confirmed by approved bodyshop Rackhams to V.A.G. agents Wolsey VW Ipswich when warranty work done on roof back in the summer i am adjusting my PRICE TO £3500 NO OFFERS, due to noticing cambelt/pump was last done at 38k in '06 (though it shows zero wear, i may well get this sorted soon as and adjust price up a hundred and fifty quid (seems fair as cost of renewal is roughly 300) - no hurry for a sale, just fancy a cooper s this yr..prob regret it though cos i've always been a V.A.G. man lol) car also has only one remote key; but does have the plastic master key has new quality black/red edge mats all round with red gti logo in front new o.e. cubby hole fitted below o.e headunit as i wanted SOME storage space lol - obviously, factory 6 disc changer included
  3. thanks for the kind words Gents
  4. Hi for sale is my 02 plate Lupo GTI in Flash Red 84k fsh (all VAG maindealer bar two, service book full to end, and fully stamped; pile of receipts) 2 previous owners 9 months mot 3 months tax usual gti spec, all working as it should 5 speed model ap coilovers k&n panel filter polo 9n rear aero wiper stubby aerial in last 3k car has had: full set of toyo t1r's in correct 205/45/15 new windscreen oil service (o.e.m filter and oil) last week a new starter motor i have had the car for 20months and soon as i purchased i : replaced entire puncture kit replaced creaky doorstraps slightly weeping thermostat housing got v.w. to respray entire roof under warranty had a full service with o.e. parts at 74k only needed a tie rod end for mot - very clean GTI, utterly reliable; uses zero oil and coolant car has usual stonechipping to front end, few v. minor marks here and there, but no dings, dents or rust and all wheels are unmarked/corroded - i have touched in the paint on the boot handle as this has the usual v.w. corrosion issue, but has got no worse and not really that noticable anyway £3500 no offers as due a cambelt/waterpump replacement ideally cheers, stu i am in Felixstowe, Suffolk
  5. withdrawn from sale - decided i'm just giving it away at this price ! please lock Mods
  6. This is something real special...coilies and some choice rims oh yeah baby good luck with the sale - someones gonna get a very special Loop
  7. This is exactly what happened with my claim...i stumped the cash as per my posts - the work they did is superb to be fair- but as per Beps advice, i have written a complaint letter to VW U.K....not heard back yet, but soon as i do i will update on this thread Stu
  8. seen my ideal car...3750 takes her away peeps
  9. cheers for the comments peeps ...at this rate, i may well change my mind..been in two minds about it to be honest anyway!
  10. 'fraid not - standard suspension was ditched due to wear
  11. yup, still for sale - personally i always wanted to spray her white with a carbon wrap roof and mirrors..but the paint is bright and bar the stonechipping to the front, its damn good for 9yr old car - espec as the common roof gutter rust has been sorted just a few months ago by v.a.g themselves ...come and have a view guys and girls, you won't be disapointed p.s had new rear pads after i bought her last yr
  12. Cheers Marcus, its defo a good one..i don't hold much hope for a sale though with the marketplaces current situ
  13. Hi up for grabs is my lovely Flash Red 02 plate Lupo GTI: 82k (will rise slowly as in daily use 5 speed (smooth as silk) fsh (all vag maindealer bar last two) with fully stamped service book (its filled right to end now!) 2 previous owners all original aluminium panels present and all other gti extras everything works as it should 10 months mot (only needed a tie rod and exhaust sealing up - very slight leak) 5 months tax has had one cambelt/waterpump change in its life i have owned the car since approx may last year, bought it from a specialist in Birmingham since purchase i have done the following: replaced both door straps (common prob) replaced the entire puncture repair kit new battery cover (was broken) had the entire roof resprayed under vw warranty a few months back (another common prob) added ap coilovers removed some old worn badges k&n panel filter polo 9n aero wiper on rear to match front ones stubby aerial (reception unaffected) in the last 1000 miles odd car has has: genuine oil and filter 4 x toyo proxi 205/45 tyres (no skimping with 195's) new windscreen (stonechips) car was on 72k when i bought it and has had a major service at 74k (inc. fuel filter and new cooling pipes due to slight leak arounf head) it's in nice condition for a 9 yr old car - no dents, all alloys are unmarked (think a previous owner has refurbed them at some point) only small probs are: drivers door has a few small scratches (never bothered me) car has the common start up squeel with the starter motor (only sometimes, and always starts first turn) boot lock has been touched in (another common vw prob) usual stonechipping on front end i have only one remote (new battery in it), but have the plastic master key and all documents/handbooks present ...my reason for sale - i cannot resist a mini cooper s any longer! part ex considered to value of 5k max i'm after 4000 for the car - seems fair as paid 5.5k for it last year and have spent approx 1500+ since, and car is lower mileage than many, uses zero fluids at all and is so quiet on tickover you'd think it wasn't on! it's a brilliant little car that turns heads everywhere you go - i will miss it, and hope i'm making the right decision! its detailed regularly with high quality products, washed every week and only ever uses Shell Optimax fuel - its a really nice example of a rare car that can only go up in value - and in one of the less common colours pictures to follow thanks for looking Stu p.s. based in Felixstowe, Suffolk PICTURES UPLOADED TONIGHT
  14. That is lovely - good luck with the sale; looks a peach mate
  15. was watching a news article this a.m. about a bloke having his head kicked in two others - it was caught on c.c. and the article was going on about a lady from a nearby office coming out and trying to stop them hammering this poor fella while he was on the ground....and what rolled by to the left of the camera...a certain Lupo Gti in red from this forum - black roof with a roofrack, slammed on wide rims - front number plate offset to the pas side - can't remember the guys name, but its def off this forum - its a minter - damn sure it was the one that had a Banksy rat on the side - 02 plate i think.. ...anyone else notice this ?
  16. mine had the o.e.m. Dunlops on it when i bought the car - they still had 3-4 mil of tread when i swapped them for the Toyo's last month - i found the road noise and grip not great, hence the Toyo's ...speaking of Goodyear Eagle F1 Asys - i had them on my last car, a mk4 GTI and they are truely a great tyre - i was very, very impressed with them; another league all together
  17. All seems to be ok today - gonna pop the door card off anyway just to see all is o.k. Rich - there is only one cr2032 battery in each of my remotes...first thing i did was change that..fingers crossed it was just a random incident!
  18. i bought a full set of 205/45 t1-r from Camskill last month... ...as for slagging them off - surprised - run t1-r's on 3 dubs now and zero probs, grippy as hell, last great - only prob i have ever had that sounds like someones posted here is a set of the old t1's i had on a mk1 gti felt like they had zero grip, wet or dry - turned out to be bad geometry on my car...my dad still has a set of these on his 205gti and they are now so old that he really needs to change as they look like they are cracking with age!! they've been on the car for a least 5 yrs now and done plenty of miles to be fair toyo are superb for the money - always my no.1 choice of tyre
  19. er...all is ok again! no idea what was going on, but went to lock it with fob earlier and it seems to have fixed itself!! loose conection? better keep an eye on this - anyone else had this weirdness? Stu
  20. Afternoon all, got a prob with my remote locking on the gti today - unlocks both doors with one plip of remote key (usually this just opens the drivers side) but when u go to lock car with remote, it just shows a quick flash of red light on fob and dosn't lock car - i manually have to lock both sides of car ...also, the immobiliser/alarm light dosn't flash now on the drivers door pin...any ideas? done a search here and in google and can find a bunch of vw central locking probs, but not this particular one..also the interior light goes on when unlocking, but not off when locking (i have also changed keyfob remote battery, but it isn't this it seems) help!! thanks all Stu
  21. Hmmmm....difficult one this Bep...who should i complain too - VW Head office here in the U.K.? the way i see it is, going through this thread VW don't seem to want to play ball with a lot of owners, and are just rejecting claims - i consider myself lucky-ish that they did it at all...and to be honest, i am strongly thinking about selling up for a R53 Cooper S as i have kinda lost faith with VW after 17 yrs of driving them - the cost of parts on the Lupo GTI is astronomical and a good car it may be, but they just don't build cars like they used too...i regret selling the mint MK1 GTI i had for ten yrs still! you knew where you stood with a MK1; modern VW's just don't cut it in a lot of ways, sadly..i'll either go retro Dub again, or just leave the brand for good - i'm undecided still, that's for sure
  22. Fair enough Rich; i can be pretty blunt myself ...r.e. Euroboxes - after getting back into the Lupo after the Fox..i soon appreciated the build quality of the Lupo as been far superior to the Fox - think i took an instant hatred to the Fox due to it's massive size (considering it was billed as the Lupo's replacement!) and non-descript looks, inside and out - i can't say that about the Lupo; in any of it's forms, i love the cheeky look of them all shame on me for missing the MK2 16v off that list..what a car
