  1. Just had my 2002 Gti serviced and was told the same thing (by 2 seperate garages) 40000 miles or 4 years. Apparantly VW have just revised their recommendation. They quoted £560 including the 4 year service. My car has only done 26000 miles. When I had it done they said that the cam seals were leaking. The whole thing came to £720. Not to good for a 4 year ols car with 26000 miles. Personally I would not take the risk of not getting it done.
  2. It's the rear wash wipe leaking on to the door lock alarm switch. A well known fault. Get it fixed under warranty.
  3. Its a well known problem at VW. Either the rear wash wipe pipe or the wiper module is broken. The sensor is on the door latch directly below the wiper. Had exactly the same problem on my 02 GTI. Take it back to VW and get it fixed under warranty.
  4. 17th of Feb and VW still can't find the fault and I have been driving around in a Toyota since December. I will never buy a VW again.
  5. If anybody can suggest anything I would really welcome it. The VW garage have changed the steering rack, ball joints, suspension struts, top mounts and wheel bearings. They are now going to change the steering rack again. VW sucks and I will never buy one again.
  6. Thanks for the reply. It's absolutely standard. At the moment it's back with the garage, they have spent all day on it and still can't find the problem. I will let you know what it was when they have found it. Thanks for your help. Phil.
  7. Hi. Does anybody know if the Lupo GTI has a common fault which causes a knock from the steering? I have taken it back to the garage and they replaced the steering rack under warrenty but it hasn't cured the problem. I am losing confidence in them and suspect that they are just changing things because they don't know what the problem is. If anybody has had a similar problem please let me know what the problem was so I can tell the garage. Phil.B. - Silver six speed Gti
