    Hello

Did think about Sport..but if petrol think I'd have to go GTI..shame Seat didn't do one. Yes have seen a couple of GTI advertised at 2.5k (with abt 100k miles), but the silver one went (silver is my pref). Will keep my eyes open, sure one will turn up at some point. Interesting that the 3L was mentioned as considered importing one from Germany, but they seem to be appreciating in value and the pound/euro is not so good..so wld be expensive. Chrs! Dan

    Hello

Hi All, Been on here a couple of weeks..so thought I'd say hi! Currently have a very nice mk3 GTI 16v but wld quite like a change, and fancy something smaller and lighter...hence poss a Lupo GTI (or maybe even a TDI). Used to have a mk1 GTI Campaign, and guess the Lupo is as close as you can get these days, but with a bit more safety, kit and solidity (considered Clio 172/Cup but think I'm a VW man really) The other half has an Arosa SDi, which I really like, plus the fact it does well into the 60's to the gallon. So will be keeping my eyes open on here for any bargains, plus trader/PH etc, and hope to join the gang at some point. Chrs,Dan

    SDI vs TDI

You know I do actually really like the idea of a 3L, have enquired about a couple but no luck as of yet...but suspect will start off with a UK SDI/TDI to start with (and go pick up the 3L with it ;-)

    SDI vs TDI

Thanks for the replies, sounds like the TDI is the "better" engine as I guess you would expect, but I agree that there is something to be said for simplicity once cars get older...a friend was saying last night the it can be expensive to get stuff fixed on these high pressure, common rail type diesels (e.g. injectors etc etc) Perhaps I'll try one of each and see what turns up.
  5. Hi all, I wondered if anyone had owned/driven the two and could compare and contrast? - which is smoother? 3 pot TDI or 4 pot SDI? - mpg - both seem pretty similar from doing a search? (60mpg+ seems achievable with a decent run) - TDI is obviously a bit quicker, noticeably so? Thanks! Dan
  6. Hi, was wondering if the Lupo is alloy head on an alloy or iron block - any1 know ? style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="confused.gif" /> Couldn't see via google. Any good links to a descripton of the engine would be great. Presume it's not a descendant of the 1.6 in the early mk1 GTI's ? (which was iron block - and I believe basically the same as the 1.8 and 2.0 GTI engines) Cheers, Dan

    GTI tuning ?

Thanks for the info...will lookup AMD if I get one..
  8. Thanks for the info guys.
  9. Hi, the Lupo GTI is quoted as weighing 978kg...does anyone know if this is unladen, or an EU weight ? EU weight tends to be specified these days (and include 68kg driver, 7kg luggage, 90% full tank)...so without this it would be well under 900kg.

    GTI tuning ?

Hi, I'm considering a GTI (as the nearest (well built) equivalent to a mk1 GTI)...but might fancy a few extra horses if I did so... I tried a search (which didn't seem to work) but found stuff on a 200bhp GTI style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wub.gif" /> , 1.4 tuning, TDI tuning...but what about the 1.6 GTI ? Not sure I'd go to the expense of head-off work, but what's the score for remaps, exhausts, filters etc ? Any1 been to AMD ? http://www.amdtechnik.com/products.variant.cfm?variantid=253 Does Optimax help these much ? Thanks ! Dan
