if its a pipe or something run ur finger round the bottom of some of the pipes to see if they are damp. If so check for a split and change the hose shouldnt be expensive.

im 18 passed my test 10 months ago and it would be 2k for me i thought that was good as im paying 2700 for a 1.3 mk1 golf at the moment.
-
this is great mate thanks looking for a lupo myself so this is some good advice for people like me thanks Sam
-
its now down to 2k now im 18. Just got to find the car now!
-
cool cheers mate, i phoned one of my contacts today and i can get a gearbox repaired quite cheaply. All the other problems are fine, ill just repair them myself. I have a mk1 golf at the moment which i have nearly replaced everything on it to get it running right so hopefully a lupo wont be as bad.
-
how common are these problems as i dont want to buy a car thats going to be a heap of hassle. I really like them but all i keep seeing is problems and bad things about them.
-
prob would get a gti if insurance was cheaper but they want 4k to insure it and i want something cheap to insure at the moment.
-
i would buy a gti but im only 18 and the insurance is well high as i live in ilford. Its £2k to insure a sport. Im paying £2700 for my 1.3 mk1 golf atm haha.
-
cheers mate, probably end up buying one of here tbh as its probably been looked after better. Am definately going to get a 100bhp otherwise i would regret not getting that extra bhp. I work for burton power so engine rebuilding and gearbox issues wont cost me as much as i have the contacts. Whats the central locking strap thing? Also what actually goes wrong with the gearboxes? Sam

Right guys, im new on here and am looking to get a lupo 1.4 16v 100bhp one. I want to know what problems they get and what to look out for when buying one? I currently have a mk1 golf which is awaiting collection as i have sold it to buy a newer car and think a lupo will be the closest thing to it. Thanks Sam
-
whos that with ben, im paying 2700 for my mk1 so dont mind paying this again or even a few quid more.
-
checked comparison websites cheapest on a gti was £6700 and on a 1.4 16v sport was £3600, just after an idea on how much other people are paying and with what insurance companies.
-
been offered a gti, but the insurance is way more expensive, for an extra 20+bhp and 200cc's more?
