  1. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Hi Trying to find the thread on removing GTI Steering wheel, can anyone provide this info as unable to find ? Thanks
  2. this is the reply i received on fitting the kit: I could supply the bits you need, but the chances of you fitting them are very small - not wantong to doubt your mechanicing skills at all, but to do the job properly requires the recoding of the ECU, which can't be done easily. Even if you went and bought one of the cheap interfaces from Ebay, they don't enable the 'adaption' as it is called of ECUs, only the reading of data stored there. If you still want me to supply the parts only, I can do so and include the relevant parts of the workshop manual for £123.38 (£105 + VAT), then you can get the installation done yourself and find a friendly dealer who could do the recode for a nominal charge.
  3. I have tried the the test they stated by revving the car to 2000rpm , then with your other foot pressing the brake pedal, if the revvs drop to idle, its electronic, if nothing happens its a cable, I have mailed the seller, but he was'nt sure if it would work or not with the Lupo GTI, I would also need to change the indicator stalk to in-corporate the cruise control, which I think is for the golf, so again not sure if that would be compatible, oh well another idea bites the dust
  4. Hi All, Don't think I've spotted this asked before, but looking to fit cruise control to my 2002 GTI, was looking thru ebay at the VW kits for sale but no good as the lupo has a cable throttle, has anyone fitted or attempted to fit cruise control ?, if so is it quite straight forward job ? style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />
  5. I just have the standard heater controls which also house the A/C switch, okay I 'll have a go at it hopefully this weekend. keep you all posted
  6. Hi, On another note, after Murk irk on Sunday I ended up visiting my local salvage yard as needed some wiring to fit a separate switch for the cooling fan on my Punto Cab, anyhow I came across a 2001 VW Polo, the complete interior/dashboard intact, as smacked up the rear (ouch) looked identical to the lupo, only difference being gone was the ledge from door to door on the lupo, as the polo has a glove box on the passenger side, and oddment tray bellow the steering column on the drivers side, £20.00 for the complete dash (bottom part from passenger door to drivers door) at that price I decided to take it. Now having all, the parts home, all I need to do is strip the bottom part of my dashboard and see if it fits, I now have 2nd thoughts as not really wanting to take my car to bits should this not fit, looking at the polo and the Lupo dashboard they do look identical, anybody tried to do this or have any info, would be much appreciated. Thanks style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="confused.gif" />
  7. Morning All, Big thanks to everybody, took myself my mate Steven and the trusty Lupo GTI, to my first meeting at Murk irk race track, we were made more than welcome, we met at the entrance to Strathclyde Park at 8am, after meeting everybody we then drove in convoy the short distance to the track, aprox 10 other Lupo / Arosa owners turned out, some very nice looking cars. Look forward to the next meet.

  9. 26th June, no problem don't think I'm up to much then so will def take a run through,
  10. very smart looking black Lupo, darkened out windows, think it was a T plate, nice alloys, Venom graphics on the back window
  11. I don't seem to have a light in my boot, mines registered in 2002
  12. cheers guys, on the ebay item, the GTI is'nt listed, but according to the seller it may be compatible, I supplied the engine number, but I'm still awaiting a response. In order to get 200 on 1/2 a tank I was taking it easy, did'nt want to hammer it on its maiden voyage, sat between 60 - 65 all the way, plus the misses to be drove 1/2 way aswell.
  13. nothing as yet i mailed the guy the engine number, did say it should'nt be a problem, just waiting on his response. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...ssPageName=WDVW item above
  14. I should have mention the wring as well, quite fancy doing it
  15. Hi Guys, Thats me now an official Lupo GTI owner, i drove to upholland, lancaster on saturday and did the business, traded the Focus ST, well impressed with the car, spec as follows: 1) 02 plate, 12,000 mls with FVWSH 2) metalic silver 3) A/C 4) Leather interior with heated seats 5) Electric sunroof 6) remote central locking & alarm - ( is this standard or optional ?) only took £23.00 to fill it to the brim with fuel, 200 miles back home on a just over £10.00, excellent mpg, can't drive her though until next monday as my private plate is going thru DVLA at the moment, well impressed so far and have only driven 200 miles it it, plan to fit cruise control, been checking out a kit on Ebay, according to the seller its just a case of swapping the indicator stalk. Has anyone fitted cruise control ?, pointers would be good.
  16. true never thought of that, a glove box would be nice though
  17. I have noticed that no uk spec Lupo's have gloveboxes, yet surfing the net the other day I came across pictures of a german lupo GTI with a glovebox. Has anyone heard of or know where you may be able to purchase one ?
  18. i suppose it does have all the toys, and the low mileage to match, does sound so high a price.
  19. mmm suppose so, will be looking for a VW sat nav system next,
  20. does £9800 seem an okay price for an 02 even though its only got 12k, and has anyone bought a car from Ron Hodgeson cars before ? thanks
  21. Hi all, Well whatt a weekend I had, the Lupo GTI I hired cost £45.00 for the day, it was'nt for sale, I had spoken with the hire drive at Verve Glasgow, stating I was considering buying one and could they get one for me for the day, they came back saying they could not get one, but leave it with them, 35 mins later they had me a raven blue 03 plate, aparently this was the valeters car, not a company car, his actual car...! ( can't say I would loan my car to a stranger) The Mrs hated it from the moment I parked it in the drive, then she took it for a quick spin and loved it, anyway I was hooked and I have bought a silver GTI, 02 plate 12k, FVWSH, A/C, Sunroof and Full leather heated seats, cost £9800.00, trading in the Focus ST, all going well I will have her on saturday, bought from Ron Hodgeson cars, can't wait, I though my Punto Gt was rapid, plenty of room in the front and it looks so sporty, I did over 150 miles on saturday in the hired GTI, just to get the feel of it. Roll on saturday..
  22. Hi Guys, Thanks for all the comments, I have hired a Lupo GTI from my local Verve Dealer in Glasgow, which I get tomorrow for a full 24 hours, so looking forward to that, should I be impressed, which I'm sure I will ,I will def be going for a Silver GTI. I'll let you all know what I think of the car come monday. cheers
  23. Well its okay actually I've always owned Punto GT's since I was 21 (now 30) and loved having the little bit in reserve, especially around town, with the Focus its the opposite around town its rather sluggish unless you keep the revs up, once on the motorway it really fly’s, pulling to over 90 in third, all the way to 7200rpm, quite heavy on the fuel though I average 180 miles on £20.00 and that’s driving easy (to work and back) I always make a point of opening her up at the weekend (pardon the pun) it has all the toys ESP, TC, Digital A/con, Sat Nav, heated windscreen, 1/2 leather, sounds daft but I find it to big, and sluggish I like my cars to be quick and nimble, hence why I want the lupo,
  24. prob should'nt but should anyone fancy a shiny 52 plate Focus ST170 with every option available, please let me know, only 29k
