  1. I'm servicing a mates 1.2 polo twist 9n and the heater control/ AC only seems to work on level 4 (ie full on blowers), 1,2 and 3 seem to do nothing and the AC light won't come on. Wondered if this was a common problem on lupo's too?
  2. Sounds like its either coming from the top mounts or the boot to be honest. Will try getting some grease in around the top mounts to see if that does anything
  3. The toyos for £176 at camskill seem like a very good price, cheers for that. Cheapest I could find on ebay for the same tyres is £180 delivered. Will have to ring round a few local tyre places to see how much they'd want to fit 4 tyres.
  4. Its come to that time when I'm needing to change all 4 of the tyres of my lupo gti. I've heard alot of positive things about the toyo proxes T1-R's. (I currently have the 205 width dunlops on the rear and proxes on the front which I bought the car with). They both have around 2/3mm remaining and can start the feel the fronts slipping when pushing it abit. Where have people been getting the toyo proxes from and at what kind of prices? Best I've found is £65 each fully fitted from blackcircles.com Or is there anything else out there now that would be better for this kind of money? Cheers, Josh
  5. I guess at least that assures me its not a problem with the fitting of the coilovers or anything else. Seems the stiffer ride makes any creaks/ noises more prominent. Will just have to live with it I suppose
  6. Ever since having my AP Coilovers fitted there has been an annoying creaking noise from the rear that has become more frequent recently. You can hear it even at very low speeds turning the car slightly and over some humps. At first I thought it might be rear boot as theres abit of play in it if you push your weight down on it. Other thought was that it was the rear dampers and where they connect to the rear top mounts causing the sound? (Where the dampers fix at the top of the mounts). But I've checked and I'm sure everything is fitted correctly and springs are in properly. Any one have any idea what this is? It definitely started once the coilovers were fitted, but could it just be down to the suspension now being stiffer and amplifying any creaks and noises in the rear of the car? Thanks, Josh

  8. Had one made for my lupo gti at VW Leicester, all in paid £110 for them to supply, cut and code the key. Hope that helps Josh
  9. Hi, how much have people payed for cambelt changes on their lupo gti, including water pump and tensioners. I've been quoted £255 all in from Midland VW. Anyone had any experience using them before? Josh
  10. Had a quick search on google and apparently fault code 17978 is 'engine start blocked by immobiliser'
  11. Just checked all the fuses under the drivers side dash part and all were ok. Then checked the ones in the engine bay (near battery terminals) and the 20AMP 32V one 2nd from the right has blown, but I remember last time when I had the similar problem it was blown too and replacing it didnt seem to fix anything so left the blown one in as it says in the manual something about not touching the ones in the engine bay and taking it to a dealer only. Anyway, replaced that fuse and it still doesnt start. Which fuse is the one for the ignition electrics? One of those in the engine bay?
  12. Had a problem with my lupo gti, the past few days its been giving a very slight stutter under acceleration, hardly noticeable though, and so thought it may just be the spark plugs needing replacing or part of the ignition system. But yesterday it did it more so and after around 10 minutes of driving it decided to cut out altogether and now will not start up again. The battery is fine and alternator is only 3 months old, RAC man checked the battery and said it was fine. He thought it would be the coilpack. However, under a year ago I replaced the coilpack with a genuine VW one, leads and spark plugs as I had a similar problem with the car stuttering badly and hesitating under acceleration. Anyway, today I replaced the coilpack with a 'FuelParts' one from my local motor factors and still no luck it will not start. It just seems as if it cannot spark. Plugged in my fault diagnostics reader and it comes up with two fault codes... 17978 - Engine start blocked by immobiliser? 18010 - Power Supply (B+) Terminal 30 - Low Voltage Any ideas what else this could be??? Thanks, Josh
