  1. I had a similar problem after the door stay got disconnected, it turnd out the window was catching on the stay (which normally it would miss). It looks like you need to get inside the door to see whats blocking it. Good luck.
  2. Hi My Arosa seats are black (or very dark grey) but the upholsterer matched the colour from stock material (which was thicker and of far better quality so should wear longer - which was important for a drivers seat). You might find an Arosa cover OK. Good Luck.
  3. Hi. I hd a prob with my drivers seat cover and was quoted an horrendous amount by a dealer to recover. In the end my local garage recommended an automotive upholsterer who was local and did it in a couple of hours for a third of the price. Might be worth trying the same route yourself, especially now you've invested in the Recaros. Good luck.
  4. Hi James The foam backing on the fabric is quite thin, only 1-2 mm at most [except on mine with the replacement fabric ]. You wouldn't really notice a dent in that. Sounds like the foam in the cushion's knackered TA
  5. I had a similar problem. In my case it was the sports style wings on the side of the driver seat that wore through. I got quotes from two dealers, new seat cover £120 + 1 hour to fit. Asked the village garage it they knew anybody else and got the number for a freelance car upholsterer. He took the seat out, removed the cover (it's pulled tight not glued), unstitched it and removed all the plain black and replaced it, then refitted the seat for £60. Best part was he used a cloth that looks the same as the rest of the car but is considerably thicker and harder wearing. Much more suitable especially as most of my trips are commuting one-up. If you didn't know you wouldn't notice any difference. If the foam's gone that might be a different matter all together as it may (and I don't know for sure) be integral to the seat. Modern car seats are made in a totally different way to those 20 years ago, and far better for it. I guess the message is, if it's not too late, get the cover fixed before the foam goes. You should be able to get the part no from a dealer. Or it might be cheaper to get a replacement seat, at the prices I found. Especially if you can get one from a breakers yard, but need to be sure it hasn't been damaged in any way and lost any of the protection it provides. Good luck!
  6. I wish it were that easy! As the picture shows there is a clear plastic "inner knob" in the way that blocks access to the pliers. I'm guessing I need to remove this before I can get to the bulb. But I don't want to pull too hard on it as it's brittle plastic and I'm wary about breaking it. Any ideas? Thanks.
  7. Thanks. I had a problem uploading a photo to the post. So I just made it my profile photo. Hope that explains. I guess I need to get rid of the clear plastic to access the bulb?
  8. The backlight has gone to the heater controls on my Arosa. It's getting to be a nuisance with these dark mornings and evenings. I've got a bulb, cost a pittance, and I don't want to pay a stealer to fit it. I read an earlier post and know that I can remove the central knob but what next? There's a clear plastic knob inside that blocks access to anything else. I'm reluctant to pull on as it doesn't look that robust. I've even had the whole panel out, but to no avail. Any suggestions grateful appreciated. Thanks!
