Hi, Im new here.

Ive got a 1998 Seat Arosa 1.0 (not MPI) AER engine.

Ive got the car about 8 months now, bought it for chips as it needed some work.

I got all the usual stuff fixed (rear bearings, door hinges, check straps)

But since I have the car I feel its loosing power intermittently. Now I know its only a 1.0 but my friend has a polo with the same engine and its alot nippier than my Arosa.

If you ease up through acceleration its fine. But if you plant the accelerator or try to accelerate hard, it feels like the car is struggling or holding back. Also sometimes at idle there is a slight miss in the engine.

Ive had the VAG com plugged into it and theres no codes, also checked live data for the misfire counter but its unavailable on this model.

Ive changed the leads as one was arcing off the block. Its had a full service too.

Only thing I can see wrong is down in the combustion chambers on cyl 3+4 are wet.

Also the brake servo pipe and valve are broken which cause it to high idle at times, but I got a letter in the post for recall and that is being fixed next week.

I like the car cause its so cheap to run, and its a nice little car. But if I cant sort this problem I might have to sell it.

The main times it happens is during hill climbs, it really struggles even in second gear. Which leads me to think its a fuel demand issue. An injector possibly?

If anyone can help or is having similar trouble please do reply. Any help is greatly appreciated. :)

Hmm.

If you have changed the leads maybe see if you can borrow a coil pack to test its not that. Change the spark plugs. Does the car have a fuel filter and has it been changed? Also air filter clean?

Thanks for the reply.

Ive changed the plugs, air cleaner, fuel filter during the service about 6k miles ago. I suppose it wouldnt hurt to swap my friends coil pack with mine to test that. I will have to wait til the weekend as Im in college at the far side of the country during the weeks.

Its going in for the brake servo pipe during the week, as its been recalled. Mine is infact broken and drawing air.
