Bigdogcasa
My wifes 1.0 L Lupo developed a leak in the power steeering pipe which runs over the top of the steering rack. I contacted the local VW Dealer to be told that you could not buy a replacement pipe but would have to buy a complete steering rack !! As it is just the pipe which is corroded and the fact the car is a Y reg the cost of this is out of the question as it would be better putting the money towards another motor.Does anyone know if any companies manufacture replacement pipes and couplings as the rest of the car is is good condition and as the wife really loves her wee car we would really like to hold onto it for a few more years at least.Look forward to words of wisdom from any Lupo Sages out there.Bigdogcasa
64 SPLIT
Don't worry! - My local VW garage quoted me £165 for a replacement power steering hose for my SDI Lupo after I caught the front of my car on a large speed bump and punctured it - so they ARE available. There are companies who specialise in repairing hoses - if it's a metal section then it should be a fairly easy repair.Having said that, by far the cheapest option would be to get one off a scrapper. There's plenty of people breaking Lupos in the classifieds section on here.I bought mine from a guy breaking an SDI Polo for £10It had a light bit of surface rust, which I cleaned up, treated and repainted. Cost me less than £20 in total n a couple hours of my time to replace.

Bigdogcasa
Due to an unexpected trip to hospital for an operation I have not yet managed to get the Lupo Power Steering pipe fixed. I have car at a mechanics who is not keen to start the job without having the replacement pipe in place. I have tried breakers as well as the classified ads on this site to no avail and although powersteeringstore.co.uk have said they will make one up for me they need to get old one first. My mechanic not happy to have the car stuck on his ramp awaiting new pipe arriving, and the cost of puting car back together to get off the ramps makes cost silly for age of car.Does anyone know where I could get the technical spec of this Power Steering Pipe that would allow them to make up a pipe without sight of the old one or the name of a company who can make one for me?Doug
