DarylG40
Hi i got hold of a lupo a few weeks ago which had a number of things wrong with it. Last job i got to do on it is a seal on the back of the gearbox where the shift rod meets the gearbox. Ive got one on order with vw. Put the car over the pit to have a quick look today but i cant see how I'm gonna get it out. Anyone with any ideas on how to get this seal out would be great help.I did use the search but nothing came up.Thanks Daryl

Remove oil filler plug on gearbox . Remove oil drain plug on gearbox and drain oil . Replace drain plug . Loosen screw at very bottom of gearstick (holds selector rod on to gearstick) , pull gearstick away from rod. Drill 1 or 2 holes in old seal using a Dremel and very small drill bit . Prise out old seal . Push in new seal with something like a socket . Refit eveything and refill gearbox .
