alowsa91 Posted January 16, 2010 Report Share Posted January 16, 2010 hi....bit of a slight problem.ive got a 97 seat arosa..old car old engine.problem is car will suddenly slow down mid drive and accelerate very slowly, especially off the lights. also it struggles to pass 60mph, even on a flat road and will struggle to go up ANY incline past 20mph!need help guys as people behind me dislike the lack of speed benefit is that the car backfires even more when it does this Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

billstein9 Posted January 16, 2010 Report Share Posted January 16, 2010 whats it like going down hills? can u accelerate or does i try and cut out if u r not in gear?my friends corsa and another friends beetle had a similar problem. they found that there ws a load of crap in the bottom of the fuel tank and when they went down hills(beetle problem was going up hills) all the crap was restricting the fuel to the engine as it blocked the tank outlet.
