  1. i didnt know it had a problem in cross winds, do you have a link? or are you referring to the test cars which were rear engined? these had stability issues in cross winds. but the up is front engined now.

small wheels are good, they dont have to be small in diameter though. some prototype eco cars have 18-20" wheels, but they are narrow and more economical than say 15".

i dont know what wheels the up is having, or the chico.

  2. the pictures posted is the old vw not the new one, so those saying they prefer to have an up to the new chico are comparing against something which they have never seen. the new chico is based on the new up/lupo platform but will be much nicer looking than the up as it will be more sporty looking and less mpv like. think low profile.

  3. vw have now concluded the new lupo is too high and compromised to be a truly efficient model. its still being made but a new entry level model is now being made, the chico. it will be lower profile roofline and much more sleek and aero efficient, a 2 seater.

    141mpg! and less than60 g/km.!

uk in 2011 for perhaps £6k.

    1.2 petrol 4cyl with 2cyl shutdown feature.

    also 1.2 3cyl diesel.

stop start and brake regen as standard.

    likely battery model in future.

  4. revised with the correct information.

good news is that the lupo gti will be much cheaper than expected to tax! (except those with pre march 2001 gti)

i would expect the prices of gti to stabilise now with this new tax system. i think some owners were selling them off thinking they would be worse off in the long run, but it seems not too bad really.

  5. thanks to the new budget there is a new tax band which the Gti falls into if your lucky and have a 175g/km gti on your V5.

from april 2009 the 2001 march onwards GTI will be £175 up from £170.

from april 2010 it will be £180, only a standard £5 increase.

if you have a 178 g/km gti then you will be in the next band which will be £200 in 2010.

the pre march 2001 gti will always be more expensive, currently at £185 going to £190 next april, then £205 in 2010.

    i think thats covered it.

  6. plastics 4 performance make a 5 piece high quality polycarbonate UV protected window kit for the lupo. about £250. the rear window is fully moulded to shape as standard, the rest are flat, but with a fully moulded option for extra. many options aswell such as tints/scratch resistance, oem spec black borders on rear and rear side, slide vents etc.

they are about 50% lighter than glass.

    doesn't fragment on impact.

about 250 times stronger than glass.

  7. Hold on - I've been out drinking all day but my chassis no. is WVWZZZ6EZ5B001381 - assume that means it was built in Belgium (I can't tell you how disappointed that makes me!) between Aug. '04 & Aug. ' 05, which would tie-in with the date of registration being 11/1/05. 1381 doesn't compute though as it far exceeds the no. of UK cars but must be well below the total no. built for the European market (I'd have to assume that 1,400 in Deutschland is accurate althought I'd have thought it would have been higher).

1381 could have been out of over 10,000. you dont know the top figure for europe, or it could have been the last, 1381 may have been all they made for the world in that year and the last ever lupo gti made.
