I would have thought if the rings were on the way out, the oil would get burnt in the chamber and would get nowhere near the intake? Sounds like an oil breather problem?

Some might share the same box but have different ratios.
My 1.0 had the same box in it from new, no bearing failure (was 13.5 years old . 110k miles when I got rid)

brake light switch replaced as it was the only fault showing up on the plug in, now showing no faults but still has the EPC light on, switching it off lasts about a mile
And are the brake lights definitely coming on ?

If I were you i'd get the exact fault codes first before throwing money around.

Did the engine management light start flashing? That's the car telling you it's misfiring. And when you plug in a code reader it will tell you which cylinder exactly, allowing you to pinpoint more accurately. Could be plugs, leads, coil pack or something else completely different?

It is usually, not sure where it is on your model.
Might just need a clean out with carb cleaner?

Cables can stretch over time. I had to replace mine when the car was about 9/10 year old.

Might be blocking you because you're outside the UK?
My 1.0e has a 063 and looking at eurocarparts all the 063s from different manufacturers are all 190mm. All the 065s are 175mm so that must be the one you need.

Looking at more batteries your original might be a 065 ?

Should have a 3 digit code on it , car batteries are pretty universal. Looking on eurocarparts , think yours should be a 027 (?). And they all seem to be 190mm high.

My 1.0e did this a few times , sorts itself out. You might notice the needle drops a fraction when you turn the engine off. It'll keep doing this until it hits the bottom after a while. Let it sort itself out , don't be tempted to turn the engine on and off loads of times in a short space of time.
Its an issue with the gauge not the engine.

Common problem.
It will eventually go down on it's own as it will go down a bit every time you turn the engine off. Don't be tempted to turn it on and off again repeatedly in a short space of time as you might damage something.
