  1. Hello,

Recently my headlamps have been dropping down and point about 2m in front of me (which isnt nice!) and they were doing it permanently until I took it in the VW garage.

Now here is where I need some advice.

VW said there faults found in the 'fault memory', adjusted them to the normal height and disabled the auto levelling. Said they 'maybe faulty' and they recommend that I replace both lights (around £250 each!). I said yea right and am happy using the lights as they are. coffee.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":coffee:" border="0" alt="coffee.gif" />

has anyone experienced this before? Can anyone tell me if its normal to have to replace both lights just to sort a the self levelling of the headlamps? confused.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="confused.gif" />

    Your comments are appreciated

  2. Woke up Saturday and found my side repeaters had been stolen from my GTI!

Why! Its annoying, its the equivelent of nicking valve caps.

Anyway I need another pair now and I was looking at the awesom GTI site. Now there is a pair there that look like what I had before and there is also an LED option

Anyone seen the LED ones on before - do they look as good on the car as in the picture?

  3. Hi,

Anyone got any ideal what could be causing the following:

Drving along in 2nd at just below 2k revs the cars started mildly juddering followed by a waring light on the dash. I missed it as it was only on for a second.

Later I was in 4th at more or less the same revs and it started doing the same. It felt like I was losing power intermittently when I applyed more throttle, although when the power came back it felt fuller....followed by a warning light for a second again (missed it again).

    Any ideas....?

  4. Hello,

Anyone know what part number the metal bracket is that holds the plastic trim that the front seat belts run through; keeping the seatbelt flush against the pillar?

Have the plastic trim bit but the metal part needs replacing.....

    Any one have an ideas?

    Cheers smile.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

  5. Check the for sale section out.

    Mine is up for £7500ono

    Full VWSH etc

    51 reg with 39000

    wink.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Compare that to the Y reg cars up on autotrader for the same & more money!

Now that shameless plugging is out of the way back to the topic. All parts have some kind of mean time to failure however if you service your car regularly you will have a much better chance of having a trouble free motoring.

  6. Woah. wait for it - £260(ish) - nop

£190 service + normal MOT price + they wanted to adjust the main lights height - £25.

Apparently (esp those have adjusted light height from switch under bonnet) wrong height is an MOT failure.

Also wanted to change break fluid for £65 - obviously I asked what the £190 got me..... Anyway didnt go ahead with that as it was supposed to be done every two years(?) and they had it then and didnt ask me to do that. Think I will go to a local garage for that and save myself a few quid.

Least they picked and dropped off the car :?

EDIT - £230 in the end. Also ordered the wiperblade/arm kit for £17.50 (each arm).

Hope this gives people a rough idea on prices etc :?:
