  1. Hi guys

I've had a terrible time with the Arosa recently- the gearbox when on it, but i think im going to have the work done as it will be worth it by a £100 or so (and ive just done the cambelt, discs, pads & tyres changed so i dont want to waste them!)

Anyway before i sell it i need to get a few things sorted so any help on these problems would be appreciated!

    1) The manual window on the drivers side is easy to wind down and then near impossible to wind back up- its so stiff!! has anyone else had this problem and how did you sort it?

    2) The drivers side interior handle has stopped working, last time i got a new interior handle for £10 and replaced it myself but the garage that supplied that has closed down so i need to get another one without going to the seat main dealer as i dont have the car atm and they want the chasis number etc (and im going away for 6 months so i can see them not getting it in etc for the week that i have the car) so is this the only way to do it or can i order it online?

    3) the passenger seat is sticking on one side when i try and callopse it forward to get people into the rear seats... any solutions?

thanks in advance for any help!!!

  2. Cheers for the help gang, Craig i might be in contact soon, im hoping to get both bumpers off a car thats being scrapped...

clarkiedub & Nathan_S the smooth bumpers already have someone's name on them sorry- but is that falls through ill be in touch!

  3. Its been a while since ive been on here! i need some help so i though i'd ask the experts!

I'm about to sell my Arosa to some family friends but they want it standard... so i need to get hold of some Mrk.1 bumpers (as mine are smooth) as they seemed to have clocked the smooth bumpers!!

No.1 does anyone have any of these lying around (i need front & rear)? and no.2 does anyone know what Lupo bumpers- of any- fit on the Arosa (again both front & rear)?

Thanks in advance for any help!

  4. when i leave my lights on and open the door the buzzers stopped comming on- it was weak for ages but now its just totally stopped!

i keep leaving my lights on and its a nightmare...

any clues to how to sort it out??

    Cheers Mitch

  5. the plastic ring round the bottom of my radio antenna has fallen off ( while i was diving so i no longer have it!)

i was wondering does this stop water from getting in- or is it purely asthetic?

theres a metal ring exposed now so im considering just polishing that up (if the plastic case is not neccessary that is),

i think it could look good with a bee sting aerial (but if you think otherwise dont hesitate to tell me).

also i wondering if anyone has a bee sting aerial sitting about- ive bought one off the bay and it looks terrible, and ive spoken to Dale but hes waiting until more people sign up, so basically does anyone have one they want rid of? mines all cracked and looks nasty.

    Cheers Mitch.

  6. im in the second year of a-levels and its hard graft but ive found a pretty cool mix of partying and studying.. which didnt happen at the start so dont give up just yet!

(not from personal experience) but from what ive heard those who drop out before exams regret it because you have wasted your time- if you get your AS and then leave you can always pick them up later in life and just spend a year and get the full qualification (the A-level). so id try and stick it out to the spring (like nikki said)

also i think doing varied AS's (which is what your doing) might show you other career options- i always thought i wanted to be a mechanical engineer (my old man works in F1 so ive always been surrounded by it etc..) but since doing an a-level in law ive now applied to uni to study that! lol

things change, even if things arent great atm have a good think before you leave it and unless you have somthing better to go to i would stick with it!

but theres plenty you can do without academic qualifcations... (as almost all the richest people in the world demonstate!)

    Hope this helps, Mitch

  7. i have a blaukpunkt HU, amp and sub....

ive been having some problems with the USB drive (sometimes it just tells me USB errot- quite irratating!!) but other from that ive had no problems.

if your not going to replace the front speakers stright away (like i didnt) the head unit runs them pretty well... i put another head unit on it didnt sound half as good!

    Mitch

  8. it depends on how loud you want to go... but unless u have some quite serious money i wouldnt bother with components (yet). get a helf decent head unit (for about £100) then get a sub and amp package for the boot.

i wouldnt bother doing the coponents unless ur gonna get an amp to power them (and then ur looking at more than £200), you'll find when u connect the standard speakers to a decent head unit they dont sound too bad!

  9. quinn direct are really inconsistant...

on my 1.0 arosa i was quote £700 (named driver- they wouldnt let me do it anyother way as i only had a provisional) then i passed (about 8 months ago) and my insurance did not change....

2 of my mates been allowed to be first driver (with provisional licences), but when they passed both of their insurances went up £400!!!

im not really sure what the deal is with them- but its worked out quite well for me

changing it to first driver when i turn 18 though... im sure i will be in for a shock!

im sure this has not helped you at all- i just wanted to bore everyone with my story :-)

  10. i understand its to protect people and the car! (but that would come from the battery- i didnt word it very well!)

what i dont understand is why it needs to be so close to the battery because the thing that i could imagine going wrong once its all installed is the amp but if that was the case you could put a fuse near the amp...

is it in case the power cable gets damaged?

    Mitch

  11. mate, put one next to the battery straight away.

No more than 12" from the battery.

Just table tie it to the other wiring untill you find somewhere to correctly mount it.

Its not safe as it is.

ive re done it- it only took a few mins- ive cable tied it (securly) to a hole under the coolant. It was ready to be changed...

why is it so unsafe to have a fuse far away from the battey- surely the main reanson the fuse would be needed is protect the car battery if the amp malfunctioned? or if the cabel was torn in some way...

    but is there another reason?

    picstures please!!

    cheers

  12. i did my boot install this weekend...

unfortunately i could not find a nice place to put the fuse in the engine bay (near the battery) so its temporarily in the boot... ( i no this is not cool but i though better a fuse than no fuse!)

i searched this section to find one suggestion of putting it on the bracket underneath the coolant reservoir. is this the best place?

could some one please put a pic up so i can see how its been done and how it looks?

    Cheers Mitch

  13. im looking at buying and fitting some lupo gti rear lights on my mrk.1/

wondering if anyone knows where/ if theres a wiring diagram on this site?

    i have looked....

if theres not one does anyone know how to do it??

ive seen a few peoples cars with gti lights on this sight!

    HELP PLEASE

    Cheers
