  1. Totally agree, hate the way decent HU's have to be all flashy and stand out like a sore thumb.

Quick question, what does the button do above the screen that has nothing on it.

And what speakers are you guys with the Becker units using. ta.

Thats not a button, its a infra red receiver, if you are lucky enough to find one of the remote controls that can operate with these units.

  2. I currently have a 2.0 SE Bora, 2000 on X reg. Had it 2.5 years, its covered 90000 miles and i've had one or two probs;

Window reg failure, on both front doors

Passenger front door wouldn't open, either from inside or outside

Rear sub frame bushed need replacing

    Front ARB droplinks need replacing

    MAF sensor needed replacing

Waterpump broke (should have been changed when timing belt was done)

On the plus side, its very comfortable, all round leccy windows, rain sensing wipers, auto dip rear view mirror, leccy mirrors, remote central locking, nice (dealer fit option) BBS RXII alloys, pearlescent black bodywork. Its a capable cruiser, but not very quick. The engine is an old design 8valve model, and only has 115BHP and not much more torque.

I'd have another, but not a petrol one. I'd go for a 130 or 150 TDI if iwas to have another (which is what i wanted originally but were too pricey).

Let me know if you want any more info.

  3. I think 16" are too big on the Lupo, and without lowering it may make it look like a mini SUV, which is never a good thing. Have to laugh, a local garage a Citreon C2 on 19" wheels for sale....to say it looks ridiculous is an understatement.

  4. As per title. I've had my Bora for nearly 3 years now and have had the old style Mexico Pro 4625, old style Traffic Pro 7825 and newer style Mexico Pro (pre Bluetooth).

IMO they are great HU's that concentrate on SQ and ease of use rather than gizmo's to attract the Max Power brigade, such as screen savers, 4 x 65w outputs etc.

Anyone got any pics of their Becker fitted to the Lupo?

BTW, the old style Mexico Pro sounds better than the newer ones IMO.

  5. That's right yeah! or 205/45/15 which are standard on the GTi.

Try the links in this pinned thread (if you haven't already found it) to play with tyre sizes and profiles.

The second link also gives details of what wheels will fit from other marques.

  6. 14" with 185/55/14

    13" with 155/70/13

...are the tyre sizes. Not sure of the width of the sport rims, but I'm sure someone will come along soon!

So if i had a Lupo with standard 14" wheels, the most accurate (for speedo reading purposes) upgrade would be a 195/45/15?

  7. I've tried the search function, but cannot find out what the standard wheel and trye sizes are for the Lupo 1.4 S, 1.4Sport and 1.4 TDI.

    Any help would be appreciated, thanks shades.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shades:" border="0" alt="shades.gif" />

  8. Hi there, just joined up as i am looking for a Lupo as my next car (hopefully a 1.4 Sport, although a GTI would be nice).

My missus used to have a 1.4S in a light blue colour (which i named baby blue), and its still in the family as she sold it to her mum.

I'm a long standing member of Talk Audio (user name Andy T), so may well spend a lot of my time in the ICE section of the forum.
