hi bud
i see your in newcastle
i went to a guy who is breaking his lupo the other day he is in houghton le spring, which is near you
he is selling parts very cheap if you want to have a look
i have his number if your interested
Not quite Newcastle - just in north sheilds.
Thanks for the offer though. Pretty sure I have everything I need now.
Know I'm going to need a tire for the VOSA check but will either just put some spare alloys on I have or get a cheap part worn to get through that.
Should have everything back on the car today if the weather holds off

Check club lupo group on facebook, there's peeps breaking their lupos.
Managed to find a 1 ltr in a local breakers with a blown engine and gear box so the car was pretty much mint externaly
Today I've picked up
Cross member - actually seems its called the bashbar(?)
Front bumper
The light surround bit(whats that actually called?)
Grill
Headlight
Plus a couple of other bits for £110
Managed to get the bash bar and the bumper trim panel bit fitted also the air intake then the rain started.
So all being well tomorow will have everything back as it should be then all that will be left to do is the VOSA check tax and insurance.

Some of you may have seen the pics I posted in the hello thread but thought I would statrt a build/about thread as well now I've started to crack on with the work
After my old polo bread van failed its MOT ij epic style last month I started looking for a cheap car and found a 1.4 lupo on ebay.
I was a bit dubious at first as it was listed as "salvage repairable" but after having a proper look decided it would be a bit of a challange to have a go at getting it back on the road.
Managed to bag the car for £350.
First pictures arnt the best as they are the ones from the ebay listing
pretty straight car apart from this bit
Managed to find a local recovery guy to deliverthe car the 15 odd miles for £40
So the first job was to start the strip down.
Spent the first day just figuring out how best to go about things and doing a bit of hunting about to find the info I wanted befor I just went at it with no clue
Ordered a wing from a breakers which set me back £60 inc delivery
First day of good weather today and have got a bit further along
Drivers wing is now gone as is the bumper and the front cross member
So now need to track down
- front cross member
- Front bumper
- panel from below the radiaor grill
I was thinking of trying to straighten out the front cross member but then thought probably just as well to get another one.
All in all pleased with my progress so far. I'm not that mechanicaly minded but its been pretty much a case of unbolting bits.
Now all I need to do is find a light blue car in a breakers thats been back ended so I can get the other bits I need as I'm on a tight budget after buying the car

I have all the parts you need but in the darker blue. All the parts come off pretty easy
Cheers
At the moment I'm looking for the bumper and the grill.and the headlight.and the air intake pipe.
I can possibley save the original headlight eiether with some epoxy or fiber glass.
Already got a wind waiting to fit. Looked for the plastic trim bit that goes between the bumper and the grill as a seperate part but guessing its all one piece?
Hopefully the weather will be better tomorrow and going to get the jacks and axle stands out so can finish getting the wing off etc.
I would consider taking those bits if you wernt so far away

Cheers I was going to be working on it today but with no garage and pants weather its not happening

I've got a lot of love for ratlook as run a few rat cars myself.
Its not everyones cup of tea but then neither is spending hundreds of pounds on making your car look shiny etc.
I've always found you get two responses to ratlook its either wtf or I love it what ever people say its your car your choice so do what you want
-
Cheers
I'm no mechanical mastermind but I have some plans forming once I get it back on the road

howdo
Thought I would sign up as just bought myself a cat C 1.4 and will probably need to pick peoples brains about setting it straight.
Paid £350 for the car and its in need of a little attention but drives straight etc
Main things its in need of
Drivers wing
front bumper
radiator grill/trim
drivers headlight
Bought the car as a project as my polo bready has failed the MOT epicly so rather than spend nearly £400 on a shed thought I would set myself a bit of a challange.
