  1. Hi guys,

    I had my epc light come on about a mmonth ago after pedal box change and. after having the brake switch fiddled about with it dissapeared. its come back now though.

    basically first time roudn id pull up, park but the brake lights would stay on, one bulb from the top strip seemed to have gone.

    this time the back left brake light and a couple from the top seem to have blown and the lights stay on after i park (until i tap on the brake pedal a few times)

    is the lights staying on a warning light system to aware of the blown bulbs?

    or is this a problem in itself?

    i'll have a look at the bulb replacement faq now if there is one but if anyone has any pointers that would be great.

  2. Hey ys. Just picked up my car from a full service.

    They've written me up a long list of things that need changing.

    The 2 I'm worried about are the cambelt which is 'red' status and the timing/fan belt I think.

    They've quoted 303 quid for the cambelt change and about 100 for the other.

    The cambelt I feel needs dong, I'm sure it's causing a whining sound when I drive to start with on journeys or could this be something else. But 300 quid seems like a lot. Shouldn't I be looking at more like 150?

    They said both had signs of wear and were starting to crack.

    The other things were minor like spark plugs, anti freeze and stuff which is fine.

  3. If you release pressure from expansion tank and seal it tight again, you shouldn’t loose that much coolant.

    Sealing the expansion tank tight will create a slight vacuum there when coolant starts to flow out.

    As you can see, there is also a spare spot for second temp. sensor. I put one sensor in there too,

    so in case of sensor failure, you could just switch the connector from one to another sensor.

    Where is this spare spot?

    I could do with having both in if this Is a legit option as they both seem to be temperamental.

  4. Right. I've replaced the original. Lost some fluid but that's been topped up.

    I've replaced it but I'm not sure the new one has gone far enough in. It's not working anyway so I'm assuming that it needs to go further.

    Going to wait for the engine to cool then see if I can push it in further.

    Is there any way to check its in far enough/that its working? Would it work and send the temp straight away after replacement or does anything need to be reset?

  5. when i had the clutch and cable done a while back. november ish they said it looked like someone had replaced the pedal box. arghhhhhh.

    never ending problems for me! - how bad is it driving it on the dodgy one?

    would it be worth getting a second hand pedal box and paying for fitting?

    im selling th car in 4 months so just need to keep costs down as much as poss.

    i swear my lupo hates me. everything that can go wrong has done! thanks again guys.

  6. Hi guys, every few weeks i seem to have more probleems. people on here always offer great advice and thanks for that. But yet again i feel somethings not right with the little lupo!

    Overview.

    - In last 3 months had - new clutch, clutch cable, gearbox fixed

    - I drive about 20 miles to work. The morning everything seems fine, normal clutch feel, slightly stiff sometimes but then again the cars 12 years old

    - Towards the end of the journey, especially one the way back home (into city - lower gears) clutch gets stiffer and biting point moves right down to the floor almost

    - then 1st and reverse, sometimes second become clunky and harder to select.

    - Any ideas what could be causing this? i dont want the strain to snap the clutch cable again or something, had a right disaster with this car!

  7. Hi there, Changing my engine coolant sensor over that the weekend because its faulty.

    How much fluid can i expect to lose when i take the existing one out, is there any way to not lose any?

    and can i just top this up somehow or does it have to be fully drained and re-filled?

    I'm unsure on what to buy to fill up with, there seems to be millions of different options

  8. Just picked my car up this morning, and driven to work.

    feel so much better and smoother, and i have 5th gear back which is nice!

    The only thing worrying me is a strange tapping which sounds like its coming from below my door card???

    is there anything that runs under the drivers side? or is it just something rattling about in the doorcard (its been loose for a while)

    also, are there any checks i can do while driving to check alls well with the new box?

  9. hey everyone, yet again im posting to question whats wrong with my lupo!

    Overview - car slipped out fo 5th

    - wont find 5th, just revs as if in neutral

    - all other gears fine

    - any ideas? gearbox, linkage, clutch adjustment needed?

    I was driving down to birmingham on friday and along the motorway the car slipped out of 5th gear. I put it back into 5th and about a mile later it slipped out again and this time it wouldn't find 5th.

    now, it moves into position, but it's as if it still thinks the car is in neutral. So it's obviously not engaging right. All other gears are fine and it's driving ok.

    I had the clutch and clutch cable changed about a month and a half/2 months ago and have had the clutch adjusted sligthly a week after that. Could it be a case of it just needing adjusting again? Or is this going to be a hefty gearbox problem?

    p.s. I have looked around on forums and a lot have had similar problems but most of them seem to not be able to get gears or sounded more severe so i was hoping that meant mine wouldnt be so bad!

    thanks a lot you guys for the replies, i'll have to get on to buying a coolant temperature sensor asap.

    would this have been causing lower fuel economy? I havnt noticed it drop but then again Its been on for quite some time!

  11. Hey guys,

    My engine management lights been on for quite some time (I know that sounds stupid but its been fine)

    I'm 99% sure the problem is just the oil temperature sensor, and i'm not sure if this is a big issue or not to be honest.

    I've put out a request for used parts for the sensor and/or whatever it needs. Is it a big thing to get fitted. im not sure at all what the parts i need/have gone wrong are.

    sorry if this sounds ridiculously stupid!

  12. Hey guys. Last week I paid a lot of money to have the clutch cable replaced and also got a brand new clutch fitted as it was gone.

    Since this my klupos been running much better. However first gear is sometimes veryyyyy hard to get into and sometimes it won't go in atall. There's also a huge clunk into reverse sometimes.

    Selecting gears is fine engine off so when it won't select 1st (literally feels like the gear stick could snap off) I can engine off. Clutch down. Start in first. But obviously this isn't practical.

    Amy ideas what the problem. Please say its not something expensive.

  13. Yehhh. I've had a look around but I can't seem to find the matched parts they were suggesting which was

    Vk9151 cat. £429.00

    Vk397 £93.20 and vk398 £112.70

    I assumed the noise was the blowing exhaust because of a hole or something in the back box. The bracket thing I think is broken as the exhaust is swung to one side and is definitely moving about and banging around which is scaring me a bit.

    I also had a look. Could get a mild steel full exhaust system from venom Motorsport for 230 quid. Would it even be an idea to get an aftermarket system like this and just get a garage to fit it?
