  1. the type of tubing that get supplied with these type of kits is the most crappest ever. it will always break. go to demon tweeks and buy some of their proper air flexi duxting, you can choose the diameter and its silicone/neoprene 1 or 2ply. much stronger.

  2. this is nearly how it was before i finished. there is the heater matrix in that pic but i took that out and replumbed the coolant lines. also took off the inside door handles and passenger side wing mirror. there are also no headlights or rear lights, they are stripped out. car legal only in daylight hours. this was my daily car for over a year like this.

  3. saw this, i like it. the money goes on the technology not the power really. 450bhp is plenty enough. it will have a very special driving techincal setup i believe just as the other GTR brought so much to the industry.

i wonder if it really will be a v8? the japanese would prefer a v6.

  4. its not too restrictive . if the engine didnt get enough air from it, it would stall.

it gets all the air it needs, but a direct forced feed (forced doesnt have to mean turbo/supercharger) then it will be a cooler bonus.

  5. ah yes, i kind of meant freeflow in sence of no bad restrictions. but i dont think the stock backbox is a bad restricition anyway.

i think keeping original "shape" of the exhaust system can be important in regards to the pulse tuning of the engine?

  6. least important area of resistance in a system is the back box though, by the time the gasses have got there they have cooled a little and become denser and need less room to flow as quick as before. but having everything freeflow is the target of course.

  7. We all know about RR differences though.

Do you wear leightweight clothing and count the amount of change you have in your pocket before going out? You better keep your washer fluid as low as possible as well!

yes i do. i also take keys off my keyring if i know i wont be using them for that particular day. i told you i'm mental.

also when i take my big bottle of water with me for a afternoon out i think about how much activity i will be doing and how thirsty i might be, then i judge how much water to put into my 2litre bottle. i dont want to put in too much in case i carry it for no point.

  8. i remember AKlupo's gti having the lowest bhp of the day because he hadn't changed the plugs! lol! bet he's gonna love me for digging that one back up again!!!

on a day-to-day basis, its not gonna be noticed whether you have a/c or you don't.

this comes down to the individual again, and what you do on a day to day basis. daily i take mt gti up through the gears to just before the limiter, hard on the brakes somtimes a bit of abs kicks in, then fast through the corners and through the gears again. luckily i have local roads where i can do this all the time. i mostly drive my car to have fun.

and i consider it to be very comfortable, i compare it to karting which i also love. when i have had some fun in my gti i consider it a bonus i'm not covered in bruises down my spine which i get for hitting the bumps on a kart track. so we take our comfort levels and needs in relation to different areas. thats why some people think air con in always a good thing, and i wish it was banned from vehicles by the uk government.

people dont think of how much it pollutes the atmosphere, but high levels of the modern type of refridgerant are being found in the air and it can only have come from car/office air conditoning. manufacturers say it is safely held, but it obviously still leaks out.

  9. But Beach surely you know that there are differences between engines when they roll out of the factory. I'd bet you would be annoyed going to all that trouble to find a Lupo without a/c and i come along and mine is 3-5bhp faster than yours as standard.

of course that would be annoying. i dont have a choice in that matter though unlike what accessoires it comes with. i actualy think i'm lucky though and have a good unit from vw from the RR result i got when i 1st bought the car. its over stock figures.

  10. i close my windows in summer when i'm driving for speed/fun. i dont have resistance either smile.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> i dont care if i'm too hot or cooking, its fun to drive and know your not wasting energy/performance/acceleration/braking distance/ability around corners and twisty roads. all these things go to pot when you add weight to the car.

  11. How much do you all weigh yourselves?

I weigh 66kg so i'm pretty light which is nice from a performance pov, thinking about getting carbon fibre legs installed though : p

i'm 70kgs. and it makes me mad when i quite often get to 72kgs. this is the boundary.

i weigh the same as a full tank of fuel in an f1 car. thats a factoid.

so WHY did you buy a lupo?

???? there is nothing i dont like about the lupo, i love it.

it doesnt have air con. it looks nice, it goes well, handles well. quailty is good.

    not many cars like that.

the civic type R was an alternative and the integra. i thought the integra was overpriced for the age, and the civic was lacking in inspiration when i drove it. and its steering wheel too thin.

liked overall the CZT and celica 190, but they had air con.

I probably weigh half as much as lupogtiboy, so i save weight and i have got a/c. Unlucky!

And as for the " didnt buy the gti because it was fast i bought it becasue it didnt have air con". Beach are you on crack?!

    no as said i'm mental.

*beach in completly off thread shocker*

    coffee.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":coffee:" border="0" alt="coffee.gif" />

To answer the original question I think the unit weighs 11kg without assosiated brackets etc.

Oh and I'm not a fan of A/C, not for weight, I just get sore a throat because of them.

    i've changed my mind, i'm 100% behind air con if it gives you a sore throat. biggrin.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

  12. and the VW Lupo is... *drum roll*

    coffee.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":coffee:" border="0" alt="coffee.gif" />

    A city car!!

    oh my god..

thats just the name for a type of car thats small lol.

i like small cars. are you saying lupo should only be driven in a city and then you have to get out and order a taxi to go to another town or village?

when i said city i meant city, for people who are like mostly using their car in say london and they want air con becasue the air is nicer and you never go much over 40mph. so can see why they would like air con as a kind of need.

where i live i'm not in stop start traffic all the time.
