  1. I have never owned Sat Nav but should really get it, although I do have fun navigating and getting lost. As someone very wise once said to me (well I assume they were wise although thinking about it they may have just been stupid)..... why go straight on when you can turn right and probably end up at the same place but have more fun on the way?

Anyway thats all pointless. Whats good in the world of Sat Nav? I want something I can buy, thats new, should prob cover Europe and doesnt need to make the tea. Speed cam locations and traffic info would be great too.

    cheers!

  2. Gordon Ramsay's Shepherd's pie served with pan-roasted carrots recipe

    (from http://www.channel4.com/food/recipes/chefs...ecipe_p_1.html)

    Serves 4

    Ingredients

    Shepherd's pie

2 tbsp olive oil Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper

    500g minced lean lamb

    1 large onion, finely grated

    1 large carrot, finely grated

    2 cloves garlic

    1-2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp tomato puree Handful of thyme sprigs, leaves picked

1 sprig of rosemary, needles chopped

    250ml red wine

    300ml chicken stock

1kg Desiree potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks

    50g butter

2 egg yolks Parmesan, for grating

    Olive oil

Sea salt & freshly ground black pepper

    Pan-roasted carrots

    2 sprigs of rosemary

    Small handful of thyme sprigs

    1 garlic clove

500g medium sized carrots, peeled and trimmed

    2 tbsp olive oil

Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper

    Few knobs of butter

Method: How to make shepherd's pie

    1. Preheat the oven to 180˚C/gas 4

    2. Heat the oil in a large pan until hot. Season the mince and fry in the oil over moderate to high heat for 2-3 minutes. Stir the onions and carrot into the mince then grate the garlic in as well. Add the Worcestershire sauce, tomato puree and herbs and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly. Pour in the red wine and reduce until almost completely evaporated. Add the chicken stock, bring to the boil and simmer until the sauce has thickened

    3. Meanwhile, cook the potatoes in boiling salted water until tender. Drain then return to the hot pan over low heat to dry out briefly. Pass them through a potato ricer then beat in the egg yolks, followed by about 2 tbsp grated Parmesan. Check for seasoning

    4. Spoon the mince into the bottom of a large ovenproof dish. Using a large spoon, layer the mashed potato generously on top of the mince, starting from the outside and working your way into the middle. Grate some extra Parmesan over and season. Fluff up the mash potato with a fork to make rough peaks. Bake in the oven for approximately 20 minutes, until bubbling and golden brown

    5. For the carrots bring a pan of water to the boil with the rosemary, thyme and garlic. Boil the carrots in the water for 3 minutes to soften slightly, then drain and pat dry. Heat the oil in a large non-stick sauté pan then add the carrots and some seasoning. Brown the carrots all over until just tender, adding the butter towards the end of cooking

    Hi Fran, Hi Nicki biggrin.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> I am alive!

Ah well I havent got 25k as such, just car allowance for work and bit of money saved up. Decided its no fun being sensible - the diesel is driving me nuts!

Si: I want to do a jonathan palmer day!!!!!

Hmmm anyone link me to a nice skyline?

  4. haha at the odd 350Z and the Mustang... interesting but not my cup of tea.

Its an every-other-day car and I will need to do no miles some weeks, lots of miles other weeks. It MUST have air con but thats about it - an Exige is technically fine smile.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

RS4 and M5 nice, but depriciation is important - so as low as possible would be good.

  5. So.... hello everyone.

I haven't posted on here for ages, but nothings changed. I still have my Golf TDi and it must be said its a lovely motor after all.

    But its a bit boring.

So what would you buy, I can spend up to £25k, don't want it new and it must be fun and rare enough to look nice.

    Any help gratefully appreciated

  6. I loved New York - the usual tourist stuff is all good in my opinion. I was there 3 days last time, sure you could fill 7 but its quite a lot if you just staying in town....

My favourite places were central park, down by the williamsb. bridge and the meat packing district but empire state building took my breath away smile.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

  7. Jeez! Go away for a while and you redecorate and I am not even looking after spotted any more. Now thats demotion, coupled with this abuse anyone would think I was unreliable!

I am a very busy boy! Well sort of.

Anyway - if it IS the 12th then I will be able to make it.....

  8. I moved to London on the weekend......... it makes it very hard to get to Iver at a decent time! Gonna have to skip this one, still in the middle of loads of boxes and general stuff.
