  1. If you use an oil extractor you can suck out a bit more from the oil filter housing. I am pretty anal and even suck all the old oil off the threads. You can get loads out! And then with a couple of little top ups between servicing, I find there is not much left over from 5L of Quantum Platinum.

Also TDI's seem funny with their oil level. The like to sit at half way on the dipstick in my experience. After topping up, the oil level always seems to drop slowly, and then seems to settle out around the halfway point. That's purely anecdotal on behalf of me and a friend though.

  2. My GTI has KW V2's on it (admittedly bought second hand) and I think I have done 5000 miles in the last 2 years. Will be even less now as it's currently sorn'd. If it helps, the KW's will always be worth something second hand, and yours would still be in good condition if you ever decided to sell the car in the future.

  3. Are you seriously recommending someone fixes their car with a bean can, and also saying it's a quarter of the work? I assume you mean to use a bean can and make some kind of sleeve. Not much use when lupo exhausts normally fail at the welded connections, or the outer layers of the backbox start peeling off and the casing cracks.

Just because my Lupo's are 'old' I'm not planning on scrapping them any time soon, so why would I want an exhaust fixed with a bean can. I want to fix and repair them properly. OEM parts are great, and economy parts from TPS really are quite good value. I think coopersim is right, the TPS parts are a no brainer.
