thats where custom maps come in. not generic
basically. if you want quick fun just give it a generic map. if you want crazy 3pot you will have to spend.
if your wanting out n out power and your pockets have no limit go for the bigger 4pot derv
and while your at it put a build thread up id love to read it
How could a custom map stop lag? That's the nature of the beast physics and all that's.
A larger turbo needs more gas to spin it. No amount of mapping could fix that.
-
Not really. With the 1.4 small power. To make serious power your only way is turbo. The faster the engine spins more gas and turbo etc etc. so if your power come at 3.5k and cuts out at 4.5k is it really worth it. Also I very much doubt you would get 50mpg and have that much power due to the way the car would have to be driven. Foot to the floor all the time.
-
Well obviously I want it too be driveable but I want it to be faster than it is, have you done anything with the TDI engines yourself? As in put a bigger turbo on, changed injectors, mapped ect?
Nope. I don't see the point. My tdi is used for driving on the cheap. If you want that done go to darkside devolpments. But it won't be cheap and a faster car would be better in almost all aspects.
You should look about adding a VNT turbo to your car. See if you can do that.

thats quite alot more fuel.... isint it just the same as vent n brim tho? just without the venting lol
Yes it is, but it's faster and you get more in there. You look like a fool when it's busy and there are people waiting and your venting etc to squeeze more fuel in. The diesel doesn't need it so it can be taken off.
-
So you'd be happy to have lag till 3.5krpm? You will lose all drivability and it might have a good dyno figure but be slow on the road?
Play with the engine?
-
If you change the final drive it will change all your gears.
-
The tdi doesn't have an eml. The glow plug lights up if or flashes to indicate a problem.

Welcome.

So you haven't outlined what power you wish to run. What sort of lag your would mind. If you are going to run a bigger or fmic. What your budget is.
Where you going to get it remapped from?
-
Dynamat is only to add weight to the panel. Imagine hitting a big bit of metal and it resonating. Now do the same thing but with your hand on the metal. Ideally you need to some mass loaded vinyl and closed cell foam. It's been warm so I've had my window open more.
Skezza had my elephant mod for over 30K+ miles.
Ventectomy gets rid of that little green thing in the filler cap. So that allows you to fill up with way more fuel. Diesel hardly expands when heated but petrol expands a lot hence the need of the vent. But once removed because it's not needed on diesel you can get way more fuel in. I went from getting 27-31 litres of fuel in to 37-41 litres of fuel. On a small engine that makes a massive difference. You could argue your carrying an extra 10 litres but with my old job I was doing 100miles a day. I was forever at the petrol station and this mod gave me an extra day of not filling up.

Are they strong enough to handle a bigger turbo?
Yes. You can rub a fair bit more power standard apparently. The injectors will need replaced and the second weak link is the gearbox and clutch. This is if you have a big turbo that is. I've heard 140-170bhp banded arounded.

It has been done.
You won't do it.

Welcome

i reckon you would struggle to get one converted proffesionally for cheap, the conversion done by a pro would be 5k+.
i saw one for sale a bit back, 3k..... it would be a quick car at 200 hp let alone 300hp.
id love to build one myself but reckon it would cost a good few thou
good luck finding one for a couple a k tho
No point in replying to this guy. He is a 5 year old or types a post and blacks out with no idea what he just posted.
I want one for 1200. I never said I wanted one for 1200.
I want 300bhp. I never said I wanted 300bhp.
Sigh.

Airlock?

Using something like fk1000p or something else?

Just eBay or the likes. Amazon. 99% or 70% rubbing alcohol.
Damn your going to look like the hulk after that.

An insight only weighs 750kg.

Strange I have had an arosa sport. The brakes didn't feel too different. Remember how little they actually brake IMO.
Yes calipers carriers and 15s.

Black smoke remap. I doubt your getting 100bhp but it's much much faster.
Your fuel consumption will decrease so long as your driving stays the same due to it being more efficient.
Just because it's remapped doesn't mean you HAVE to fly everywhere fast as possible. If your driving to the same speed limit your brakes will be fine. Plus the rear does very very little braking if you want to upgrade throw some 280mm on the front.

Buy a bottle and water it down cheaper.
Are you doing this by hand?

Thats weird. Have you checked your radiator fan sensor? Even if your thermostat is in perfect condition the one which triggers the fan could be off and start spinning it too soon.
Wow your so knowledgable for being new to a forum. Don't listen to anything anyone says your right *thumbs up*

Thats some great info, thanks a lot. I forgot to ask you about how the engine is running. Any cold start issues?
Isn't that true only with WVO? I can't see any reason why new oil from the store would cause problems.
Think what you like.

Give it a quick IPA wipe down after you have done it.
1.4tdi to pd130????

I was talking about lag. Your first like was that's where custom mapping comes in. I am no stranger to it but a mapper has to match power to fuel consumption. No point in getting uprated everything and running 100bhp just to get 50mpg.
The 1.4 engine is pretty pointless to tune as a 1.9 will do everything better.
