I have washed my filters and re oiled them with no consequence.
Yes I am one person but I can bet you any amount it's the same on most forums. Espaiclaly with high performance cars.
Skezza I think you will find your last statement is completely wrong. You run lean on a turbo you wil blow the engine. The turbo isn't affected bar temperature. If you start detting or are running lean you can melt your engine. Most turbo cars are meant to run richer than Stoich for this reason under boost and at higher temps.
It's no good to run lean in a na but a turbo will exacerbate the problem.

You normally need adapters to for 6.5 to space them out to stop them hitting the window.
-
really? There's no smoke without fire (literally ). Plenty of people have had damaged MAF's from oiled filters.
Yes, please give me some sources. I myself have used oiled filters with MAF and MAP sensors without worry.
-
there's also the fact that oiled aftermarket filters are known to coat/damage the MAF resulting in the car running lean... You don't want that on a turbo.
Outdated and untrue.

Polo Gti's are 125bhp aren't they? Check out the engine swap builds. Would you be doing this yourself?
-
Why would you want to fit one? The cone would be much smaller than the current filter.

Speak to the traders. Sub £200 new.

Well, as i have a 1.4 and its my first car, i love them too (especially the green ones), ands yes great first car, great to learn in as they are so small and manoeuvrable etc. good on fuel etc personally i would like a bit more than a 1.0 as i think they have 50HP? and even my 75HP 1.4 is OK but once i pass i will chip mine to 100HP, but for me i think mine is quite fun to drive no matter what one you get as they are so light and small
definitely go for a Lupo.

Why would anyone take advice from someone without a drivers license.

Nope. The ABS system is fine and it's not running old fluid as suggested above. The brakes are just not that good if you want my honest opinion. Newer hatchbacks have far better braking systems.
Totally disagree with DBlock when he says they're as good as any modern car, because they're just not imo. It might be because mine has rear drums. His TDI of course has discs which would make a decent difference. Geoff has done a conversion from drum to discs. I recently drove a reasonably newish Punto and the difference in braking was quite a lot. I wouldn't mind comparing the braking in mine to an Up! which is obviously the logical successor to the Lupo seeing as the Fox was so ****.
As for ABS, it works by pulsing therefore in certain road conditions, it can reduce stopping distance as it's applying the optimal amount of braking, however on a loose surface, ABS actually increases stopping distances. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to have. I find it particularly useful in snow funnily enough as it can help to prevent side skids when going slowly, but in reality, ABS? Meh, it's a nice feature but not essential and not something I even look for when buying a car.
Skezza you can make braking harder/better in a few ways. But I very much doubt the punto you drove had 6 pot 300mm discs. My car also has drums. Disc size, pad size and caliper size/piston all has an effect plus other things but lets keep oem for now. The tdi is close to 240mm isn't it. For a car that weighs 980+kg thats fine. I really doubt the puntos brakes where much bigger or has additional pots. Where the car seems to brake better is that the newer cars have less travel between nothing and working. Also wider tyres can help. But ultimatly it would be a heavier car and I would be surprised if it had brakes bigger than 280mm or stopped quicker than a lupo. Again the brakes "feel" better but they aren't. It's like my brothers old car didn't have servoed brakes. They felt like they wouldn't stop but if you stomped on them it would really stop.
Also regarding snow and ice that's when I personally find it's the most dangerous. It can think your slipping when your not and just plow you into something or a curb.

You linked to the £150 set. Are you lowered? If not go for standard suspension from ecp or the likes. If your lowered go with joms or the likes from a trader on here. About £200.

Hmm... Would a skoda fabia VRS engine fit into a 1.4 S 2001 lupo? Curious....
yes.

My V reg SDI has ABS. Can't say it's a feature you desperately need though. All Lupo's have **** brakes regardless of ABS.
my tdi brakes where completely fine before I upgraded them for the lulz. My brother tdi has standard and they work great. New pads, discs and a fluid change and they are as good as any modern car.

+1. I'm back on the pc before avast was going mental and not letting me on.

similar sort of question but with a TDI in mind, has anyone fitted a 6 speed box from a GTI to this model or are the gear ratios all wrong
If you could do it, not easily but it's possible. You would end up with a weaker gearbox with shorter ratios I think.

It looks like it has never been attended to in its 13 years on this earth
And I just did it, didn't wrap anything, but really didn't go close to anything, was a glorified rinse Kept her running too.
Big service next! its running a little rough tbh
Check skezzas guide to smoothing idle.
Do oil and fuel filter. Run diesel purge and try a water decarb. An egr block would be good too.

You can if you wrap all the electrics and sensitive parts up. Why would you want to though? Just take the time to make sure you don't push wAywr into the electrics.

Some put a stone through it?

Same thing happened to me. Such a crap design. Maybe just ruin it getting it off and buy a new lid.

Nice.

I thought that's why you said you was making the rears bigger.
-
I think thermostat is best place to start but then look at water pump. radiator and then something more serious. Hopefully it's something easy and cheap.
-
trust me its done properly, there aren't any pads better than D2500
That's not what you said earlier you said you wanted bigger discs. You went back on your word and I'm dissapointed.
Define better? Corbone Lorraine rc6-8? Mintex 1166. Ds3000's.
-
Whoooh name calling. You said you like doing it properly and it would look stupid.
It's not done properly and will look stupid.

Bar the gti's the petrol lupos are thirsty and unreliable IMO.
