  1. The last 6 months my economy has just gone down the toilet,

Anyone else having this problem? Its been serviced every 5k miles, ive cleaned the throttle body, inlet manifold, icv valve, no fuel leak and runs fine, my spark plugs are black, meaning over fueling, and the car is a mk2 arosa on 36kmiles and 52 plate,

Any ideas? Can the expansion tank get stuck?

Does anyone have a diagram of the expansion tank?

    Cheers

  2. Hi all,

here are a set of Ronal Teddies i had for my Arosa which i have made the regrettable decision to sell,

They are all in good nick, and all tyres have good tread

Here is a link to the picture of them http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24864537/Photo%20Nov%2026%2C%2016%2005%2040.jpg

    £300

PM me for details : )

I also have some BBS RZs which have been sand blasted and ready to prime and paint, which came standard on Mk2 golfs which im selling for £100 without tyres

    Both 4x100 vw fitment

  3. Also try and check out the Lupo GTi seats, I have them in my arosa and with my back they are a million times better than the lupo and arosa standard ones, also, when I get coilies, for only dropping 50mm will it be more rigid than shorter springs and shocks?

  4. And as I posted this I have experience the same problem a few days ago as my mpg was down the toilet,

You need to get a carb spray cleaner and spray it through all pipe work connected to that pcv piping, it's mainly caused by a faulty oil top up lid, is it yellow around the cap? If so you need a new one from vw, £6

But that black thing underneath the throttle body with 2 pipes going to it, remove it and spray carb cleaner Into that for a few seconds, aload of black crap came out of mine, then, unscrew the throttle body, just 4 screws, unplug the lead to it and the 2 pipes and give it a good spray on the bottom and clear all that crap out,

While the throttle body's off, give it a quick spray inside the intake manifold, below where the throttle body was and down the pipe you will see in the middle, put everything back together.

Lastly, you want to spray down all the pipes that connect on the air box, the big pipe, and 2 little ones, then once that's done, start your engine, with air box off, and give a few sprays into the throttle body while running, will give it a nice clean further down, when you first start it, might take a while, that's just because the cleaner is slowing the air flow, it will start after a few go's

Re assemble and hopefully problem solved!

  5. It's the side behind the passenger, I had this problem, your rear washer water line has come apart, it runs from the bulk head all the way down the side of the car, up by the side of the seat near the plastic moulded pocket up by where the seatbelt wheels in, under the plastic trim where the top of the seat belt is where the washer line has a connector, that will have come apart, what you need to do is dry it, dab abit of super glue on it, hold them in place, then gaffer tape them over, they won't move again! Hope you sort it, easy but tedious job!

  6. you'll need to explain a little more,

but from what i kind of understand, take the head unit out, and on the wiring loom there will be a plus and negative wire which will be obvious because they will have a male and female connector covered in clear plastic insulator, take them off and switch them over, so + goes to - and via versa,

    hope that helps

  7. i serviced it myself at 30500k when i bought it, new plugs, filters, coolant, break fluid, the lot,

i stripped the throttle body down and cleaned it, and in intake manifold, it was nice and kaked up with crap! the pipes and PCV valve were oiled up to hell so im hoping thats problem half solved, i also took it for a good belting after soaking the throttle bosy and manifold in carb cleaner and it was like driving a new car! had abit more power!

apparently its a common things for these to kack up, the only other thing i was told it could be is the oil separator is gunged up and needs replacing but we will be

with the shell v power 99 octane thing, this is what i thought, but in my experience, v power i always use more with it than any other premium fuel, just with it burning slightly more with it being higher octane

Get it serviced! specially before the weather turns properly awful! otherwise it will be un serviced until spring unless you want to freeze! haha

  8. haha brilliant, hwo easy is it to change?

but, i went to VW today, and they seem to think my throttle body and various piping is crapped up to hell because of my plugs being carbon'd up, so im going to wack a bottle of carb cleaner through it tomorrow and see where that takes me,

also another think they think it could be is that me using v power, 99 octane may be too rich for the engine to cope, there for confusing the ecu and over fueling

also i need to check weather my oil separator isnt clogged up

im hoping the carb cleaner and going back to 97 octane excellium will sort it! i dont want a £500 big for new throttle body or £160 for new oil separator!

  9. its an absolute john riddle of a job, you need to gram the plastic casing and pull like theres no tomorrow and it will pop out, first time mine went and i upgraded to led sidelights, i had to take it to VW for them to drop the bumper off and take the headlight unit out to do it!

  10. at the moment i've been getting under 300 litres a tank in my 1 litre, but thats using Shell V-Power, and i can't understand why? i took the plugs out a few hundred miles ago to just have a look and they were pretty black, even though it was serviced by myself when i bought it on 30k miles (Now on 33K)

Also, temp sensor? you mean the coolant expansion tank sensor in the bottle?
