Between £3.5- £6k
£3.5k will proabably be ropey
£6k will be overpriced.
Go for £5k!
Buy on condition and a comprehensive service history.

Apologies - I was meaning its very common now, as most cars are over 5 years old, with 60k+ mileage, not thats its common generally
Ah yeah- fair enough!
-
I've got 2 members on here saying all is well after 50k+ miles.
-
I'll just get a new starter- hopefully will be ok.
-
A lupo is a hell of a lot bigger than a mk1 mini I have both and the loop dwarfs the mini, although like you say the boot size is comparable.
A MINI is bigger than a Lupo. The Lupo is only a little bit taller than a MINI.
-
I think mine is expensive at £600 a year! It is though considering I'm 27.
-
My starter isn't squeeling yet..51k
There ya go, I really don't see why a new starter would start squealing before it's sell by date.
-
Yeah but I can't imagine buying a brand new Lupo GTI and within 3 months it starts squealing.
I **cringe** when mine does it- but put it down to 94k miles taking it's toll on it.
-
Yes, you would need a replacement. But it will only return in a couple of months.
You are joking right?? Are you saying ALL gti's have a squealing starter?? Surely not.
-
Didn't realise the starter squealing was a common issue. I guess the only fix is a new one?
-
Finished the polo conversion though.
Looking good- wheels really suit it!
-
Check all lights on dash, whatever you do!

Had another word with the guy- he's ringing me back tonight-yet again- to tell me exactly why I have no "bulb"
Latest he so calls remembers is that " He reset the unit and soldered a couple of wires together"
The trial continues.
On the plus side- I've solved the tailgate rattle. It was loose trim inside. All been put back and now no noise. Bliss.

Lupo is a budget car.
I fitted one in mine, but never use the boot.
Budget it may be but a new Lupo GTI certainly wasn't cheap. I just didn't know no boot light existed on modern cars. And by that I mean cars made after 1980!
Plus the new mini ain't exactly 'mini' is it! They are massive compared to the originial and would say also bigger than the lupo?
The lupo is perhaps a little bit smaller than a Mk1 MINI. The boot size is about the same from memory.
-
No no new. But they were made at the same time as the Lupo!
-
They managed it in a MINI!!
-
I thought mine was faulty!!! I guess the plus side is that it's one less thing to worry about but I've never, ever owned a car without a boot light. I mean how weird having a car with luxuries like xenons but no boot light!!
-
get a new brake light switch then?
highly dangerous!
Getting it done on Saturday. But I do need someone on this forum to help me out with the rest. Rich- I need your help!
-
Update. Kinda.
Had the car checked by VAS-PC- the official VAG software that dealer use. Here is list of faults:
00532 Supply voltage signal too low, Intermittent.
65535
Control module defective. Static
00852 Front speakers They seem fine to me though!!!
PO571 Brake light switch. Unplausible signal
01179 Immobiliser Incorrect key programming.
All in all no huge issues- It's the airbag issue, the real biggie. And I still can't figure out why I have no airbag light on at all. We had a look at the clocks and they have defo not been touched. Just do not know what to do!
-
I have him.
£10000000 in used non-sequential £20 notes wired to my Swiss account, else he gets it
For what that Lupo is about to cost me, that sounds like a bargain.
Which Rich?
We have more than one!
Rich from Durham- currently breaking a silver GTI. The...umm.. bukkake guy!
-
I ask as he is seemingly one of those people checking forums on a daily basis. I've "known" him for a while (since 2006) through the forums but I've never actually met him.
He very kindly offered to help me sort out my Lupo nearly 3 weeks ago but I haven't heard from him for well over a week.
It makes me a bit nervous as I only got a small refund from the person I bought the Lupo from based on the fact Rich told me he'd sort it for not a lot of cash as he's got all the parts I'd possibly need and he knows VAG cars like the back of his hand.
I hope he's ok of course- and I'm sure now I've typed this he'll be back here in no time!
-
Official source I presume?
-
One thing to bear in mind - in its current condition, it will pass next years MOT, however if you fix the light and cant fix the airbag module (causing the light to stay on) it wont
I have had it confirmed by many garages that it will not be part of the MOT. So god knows, again, everyone seems to have a different opinion!
