  1. Today I have completed the front seats in the lupo. first Job was to get the mounts welded up.

    WP_001644.jpg

Then the final fit started. I used m10 bolts for the 4 fixings from the tt frame to my frame. Essentially you need to put the rear frame on and see where you need to drill to have the seat fitted in the middle of the lupo runners.

Once marked up a 10mm hole will do the job.

Next I cut a notch in the back of the bracket so I would be able to use a spanner on the bolt that goes into the lupo runner.

    WP_001674.jpg

The put the 430mm wide piece of angle iron (I cut earlier but haven't mentioned before) :) between the front mounts and mark where you need to cut the 10 mm holes. On the front of the tt seat the bolt hole is at an angle, I have cut the 2 tabs off the side and bent this upwards as in the lupo there is only a slight height difference between the front and rear mount height.

If you look at the design of the lupo mounts the front bolt wholes are not in the centre. I bolted the front angle iron and the rear frame to the TT seat and popped it in the car for some marking up.

Once all marked up, put the holes for the lupo front mount in the angle iron, the hole for the rear mount in the frame and the lupo runners. In the photo above I've already put the holes in.

If you are happy all the bolts line up and the all go in and out without difficulty, do a test fitting to make sure the seat runs and rolls properly like it should. For the frame to lupo runners I am using m6 bolts with lock nut on. For the angle iron to lupo front mount I am using M8 bolts with the original lupo seat nuts on.

All happy I painted the subframe in hammerite, waited for it to dry and fitted to the bottom of the TT seat. You can see the whole which matches up with the ones on the lupo runners.

FIT IT!!!!!!!, You should end up with something that looks like this.

With lots of room for passengers feet :-)

  2. This is my progress so far. Tomorrow I hope to get the front seats in afdter I've had all the welding done.

I've started by fabricating the back of the drivers seat mount. As I take passengers quite frequently I wanted to make sure the mount didn't intrude into the well at all.

I got some box section 25x25x4mm from my local fabricators for a fiver, they were off cuts. To have a perfect fit I needed to cut 2 lengths of 107mm, 2 of 125mm and 1 of 550mm (as wide as the lupo rail)

I plan to have them welded together like below. I did a paper mock up for reference. I was worried without having a bar across there would be insufficient strength if it was in an accident as the belt buckle is attached to the frame. the 107 and 125mm lengths need to have 45deg angles cut on the end. This has been taken into account when calculating their dimensions.

Below I have included some of my ideas when I was first trying to come up with a strong enough design to with stand a crash and a design for the rear that could be made from sheet metal. I didn't do this in the end as it was going to be too complex. There is a bit that slides into the runner of the lupo and then bolts to the TT.

    More updates tomorrow.

  3. When we did the test on my friends lupo we had been for quite a drive to make sure it was all warmed up. I think the temp must be incorporated into the map sensor, that's qhat the chap at vw said but he wasn't 100%

I went out in my friends clio 172 last night, intake temp was about 33 which is about normal.

I had the bonnet open when I did my test so I wouldn't expect much heatsoak. My garage certainly wasn't a sauna though.

The map sensor is going to be cleaned/replaced this week so I'll let you know the results.

Out of interest what rpm does yours idle at?

  4. further to looking at my car on vag com. I have compared it to my friends lupo which idles much lower and has an intake temp of 27 as oposode to mine above.

false high reading would make the car run lean and cause excess 02 to come from the exhaust. I have called vw. They have advised the only sensor on the intake is the MAP sensor. 063 906 051 at £57 or £22 from ebay.

Does anyone know where in the intake temp reading is taken from on VAG com as there isn't a temp sensor.

My lambda sensor also isn't running through it's voltage cycle so that's being a replaced

  5. Piccy pics pic of the TT brackets if they are about. I'm having a mental breakdown working out the rear of the front seat bracket which still lets passengers have foot room.

    Noone's helping me :(

  6. I'd try a new Lambda probe, they're only about £60 and could make all the difference.

I'm in the same boat at the moment, except it's my CO that's a problem but I'm putting that down to the crack in my manifold!

I had a brand new bosch lambda sensor last year as a precaution. I've kept my old as a spare because it wasn't broken. Anywho its gone back into the garage again today for the emissions testing. Engine flush, oil change, oil filter chang, injector clean and it's still a fail. Below I've attached a vag com measuring blocks read out. Is everyone elses the same or similar?

They cleaned out the oil separator on the back of the engine and it made it a bit better. How does this separator work? is there a valve or diaphram in it? vw said it would be £75 as a replacement part, however I would only change this if it was going to make a pass, I'm not even sure if it can break as it's completely sealed and I can't see what's in it.

    Exhaust joins all resealed.

    WHAT CAN IT BEEEE?

    WP_001619.jpg

  7. Right I'll start with the juice.

Below are some pics of the fresh meat. I can see the front will be easy to do. Bend up the angled tabs on the front and use a piece of angle iron to connect the mount and the seat frame.

The back I'm after help on. I don't want to cut up my original interior as it's a genuine cat and mouse tim tom :P Essentially I need something which puts the back rail in further without having a bar accross. Very evidently rear passengers will need to have somewhere to put their feet so a bar wouldn't work from what I can see. I was thinking of mounting it directly to the floor and using a mount with a spacer. Similar to a land rover. All the images are below of the problem. Any help is greatly appreciated. I want a brain storm!!!!

  8. Taken it to the garage this morning to spend a little while on the machine. I got 3 green lights for a second but it quickly changed again. I've done an engine flush, chucked some injector cleaner in, cleaned the throttle body, plugs, llambda probe to no avail.

Apparently it could be a leak in the exhaust so I will have to go over everything with a load of exhaust assembly paste :/ such a pain

  9. Yeah the HC is fine.

I have never had a warning light come on due to the emissions. I am very certain they have been skimping on the warm up. Well the CO is very good for the environment at 0.040.

Does anyone know what would affect the llambda as it's quite a specific bracket to get it into.

My sister has been driving my car so I assume she has been putting rubbish fuel in even though I asked for v-power. I'd also bet on a large amount of pottering around.

  10. When the breather was removed it was much better. I think there may be something wrong with the black box on the back of the engine.

Anyway with the pipe off the breather the results are below. I am certain they didn't let the car warm up before doing the test as the results dropped 10 fold for the second fast idle test.

    temporary.jpg

  11. Because it's a very early sport there isn't an EGR and there is only 1 lambda sensor on the down pipe.

The garage said a non gen cat has a life of only 13 months probably so will have worn out. I'm not a fool so won't buy that as it came with a 2 year guarantee.

When I scanned for codes last time nothing came up and this was the day before the MOT.

I'll post the readings when I get home, I've just had a news over the phone :( such a pain in the pooper

The silly man said it was well over what it should be though.

Throttle body was cleaned about a year ago and had a wipe when the engine came out in december. K&N panel filter, I've done loads of work to lupo :(

  12. Right MOT test time is here again and lupo is over the limits AGAIN

Last year I replaced the cat with a react one and the lambda sensor.

I had to take the breather off the airbox to make it pass.

Just wondering what anyones thoughts on what this could be. It's a major bug and I just want it resolved. Not to mention the garage are complete *£^(*&$ but it's the one my sister booked it into.

I honestly can't think what it can be. It runs fantastically.!!!

  13. I wrote up a how to ageeees ago for a guy on here and just need to finish writing up how to do the rears. If you really want it though i could try finish it over the next couple of days? The way i did it was by making brackets and then sticking the seats on them as oppose to cutting the runners on the lupo and welding them to the tt bases.

Yeah that would be absolutely fantastic. I've done so much searching and there isn't anything definative.

Pictures of the mounts would be great. My seats are on the way so when it's being done I'll be able to make a full on guide.
