Just got rid of my abf mk1 for a t2 camper sad to see it go
-
The inner cv isn't common to go is it after the car has been lowered? Read a couple of things on here about it? Like my brothers 51 plate started making a strange noise after coilovers, wasnt fouling on the chassis or anything whereas my 04 plate has been absoloutley fine after coilovers were fitted

Jackpot cheers man!

As the title says, my brothers gti has done in its offside inner cv joint and just trying to find out if a 5 speed gti shaft is the same as the 6?
Cheers

So I started work on my daily slag the other month
As I got it
Hated the red center caps and red stickers round the lights so next day got some thinners on them bad boys and got the stickers off
Slapped on some p slots I had on my driveway
Hated them so got them off
I couldn't stand the massive arch gap so picked up some kw coilovers and stole the split rims off my golf
Polish at the weekend and back on the old wheels now with center caps
More to come, I'm thinking alot of engine bay work, either gloss black engine cover or flocked in cream wanna get some chrome filler caps etc or maybe do them gloss black aswell. Anyone got any ideas speak up

6 speed gti 04 plate 68k
Gearbox has always been fine then today I went to change to 4th and wouldn't go in, tried going over to 6th and the same thing! Went and tried 2nd then straight in then the box was back to normal again with all gears, but this has happened another 2 times since!
Anyone got any ideas?

to say this is a build thread this post wont really fit in because its more of a demolition post haha.
started stripping gooch down after work today ready for spraying next week and going to prep it over the weekend / next week. pictures are from half way through with bumpers and lights and grill still on also anyone got a opinion on the colour of the headliner? i have a black one at home but was thinking of trying to get a creme one, i know i can source a white one but it wont match the seats that well and the dashboard is staying black... what do you think?
-
love red lupo's they remind me of my old one! get them side strips off!
-
Very nice work, i love MK1's and its nice you have retained the OEM look.
cheers man, oem is the way forward i think, i cant be doing with a load of after market s**t well except wheels because they're rad

cheers guys, more to come, opening quarters and a butt load more to do including refurb the splits before the 10th june for yorkshire modified top 25 show n' shine (not that i have a clue what im doing at a show n' shine like because my cars are usually filthy hahaha)
there isnt an exact name for the colour i just got it from the company that supplies paint to my work, i cant remember the exact code, but i need to find out because its having a blow over before the 10th aswell. if i find out i'll post it up
-
not a lupo but i thought id share anyway since it lives with 2 gti's
so ive been lurking around all the car forums for ages now so i thought it was about time to write something up about my car
so my 1.4 lupo got writted off and ended up as a cat D so i swapped it for my mk1 gti already with the ABF engine conversion, think it was intended to be a track car
i was using it as my daily over the full winter aswell
when i got it:
no carpets, no headliner... 2 front seats and a dashboard and that was pretty much it haha
got it all cleaned up as much as i could to find out it was a pretty solid shell with only minor surface rust.
then i got it in to be sprayed while constantly changing my mind about which direction to go in haha
nearly finished been prepped
as it came out of the bay (very hard to tell the colour in some pictures)
started rebuilding windows in etc, grill badged refurbed etc...
carpet in
picked these cheap to run around on for the time being
and on the car
the 'break your spine' coilovers arrived
fitting
removed the dash to find a nightmare of wires (picture after quite a bit of tidying up rewiring and cleaning)
some presents arrived in the post, chrome bumpers and porsche seats
only picture with bumpers on as it was too cold to stand outside and take photos over winter haha
things were quiet for a couple of months
already had added 1.5 degree camber to the back but it wasnt enough so i went for 3 degrees and 20mm spacers
didnt like this so much with the spacers so now running the 3 degrees without the spacers and looks much better and can go lower at the back... bonus
got bored of the seats and flogged them to buy this sweet interior that i am in love with
and how it is at the moment (minus the camber)
just got these which will hopefully be polished with cream centers soon!
so thats all so far, still a work in progress, love to hear any input
oh and just a cheeky last one peeping from behind my lupo

i know haha, i wasn't really sure what to go for, i went for a punt anyway, whats the worst that can happen for that much ha
hopefully they will end up nice like, its just all down to wether them lips can be sorted wether they were a good buy or not i think
-
less than 130, still not sure if ive over or under paid like hahaha
-
sorry mate haha, its real hard to hunt down anything about them though haha
-
not a clue what they are worth though haha, hopefully i know a guy who can sort the lips for me. i really cant find anything at all online to do with them haha
-
there going on my mk1 golf,
im thinking off white / cream centres with a mirror polished lip, and these have to be done for the 10th june hahaha, think i have my work cut out.
may also run these on the lupo so hopefully creme will go with black haha

so i was having a browse for some splits and came across some brand that i'd never heard of before and can hardly find any info about called ADULA i've had a good google search and text some people who know some stuff and most had never heard of them. i managed to find a different model of wheel by the same company i presume called Weds Adula and other than that i found a for sale thread from 3 years ago for the same wheels, not sure if there exactly the same set which they could be but not 100% anyway i bought them anyway because i couldn't turn down 3 piece splits for the price i paid even though they do need ALOT of work, 2 of the lips are quite badly dinted and they need a full refurb, heres the picture of one of the wheels in the condition they are in now
and this is the only other picture i could find online of some in good condition which hopefully these will be very soon
if anyone has any info on these it would be ace because to be honest i don't have a clue what i have just bought hahaha i don't know if they are rare, a rubbish brand or what because i just cant find any info anywhere! ha
cheers guys

GTI juddering and flat when accelerating
in Car Care, Maintenance and Mechanical
Posted
my brothers gti occasionally seems to be really flat when accelerating, it was a little like this when he first got it and had a stupid cheap aftermarket air filter on so we changed that and it seemed to be cured. just recently it seems to have come back and brought the engine management light with it, we had the codes read and the only thing that came up was the coolant temp sensor, changed that and the light was gone and driving fine on a long trip a week or so ago. today was the first day of use since and when it started and was revved a little while sat still it was really flat and very slow to go up the rev range until it got to about 2.5k revs, took it for a drive and when accelerating it would judder and feel really flat for a second or two then get the power back and then bring the light on which used to come on then go straight back off but today it decided to stay on, and it kept juddering a feeling flat for a while on and off under load almost like it was in the wrong gear. after the car had been running for a while and everything was warm it seemed fine but the light has stayed on? when we got home we popped the leads off the coil and it seemed that two of the connections on the coil (4th and 2nd i think) were corroded a green colour, could this be the cause and if so is there any way of cleaning the connections on the coil up and not replacing it and what should we replace to stop it coming back again? plugs? leads?
cheers for the help
