  1. yea thats my bora - thanks bud! Olly
  2. slacken it off to where you want it, if within a couple of weeks it's rising again the you'll know you'll need a clutch in the not too distant future, to be fair most times it just needs adjustment on the cable. Olly
  3. could be a worn clutch but also these cars have manually adjustable cables which could be easily adjusted and cure the problem. you'll need a 10 + 12mm spanner and turn the nuts on the end of the cable (below the battery area of the gearbox) anti clockwise a couple of turns at a time to get it biting where you'd like it, then just lock the two nuts back together again. Olly
  4. haha, i thought you were going to say the three girls bought out the box! i usually get the obligatory 'what size?' in disbelife. last time i looked a company called walktall had some ok stuff. Olly
  5. haha, don't get me started on that subject. i usually go into the sports/ shoe shops in my local 'town' and after 15 mins of 'do you have this in a 13?' i'll say 'what have you got in a 13' then the young girl disappears out the back to return struggling to carry this massive box containeng the ugliest pair of grey dunlop/ hi tecs you've ever seen. i never own the shoes i like, just what i can get. to top that my mrs keeps trying to get me to wear (excuse the language) what i call sh*t flickers - them shoes with the pointy toes, they look like actual clown feet equivelent to a size 21 or something!! back on topic ish i've often considered a 225 tt and nearly bought a couple. Olly
  6. i'm 6'4", size 13 feet and have large hands. i've only ever had one comment of looking massive in an arosa but it doesn't really bother me. there's almost as much space as in my bora and have no issues other than the fact i'm getting older and fatter and pulling myself out from a low car is getting harder. Olly
  7. thanks bud, i'm not sure - there were a few 'fun' stickers on the car, quagmire head on the windscreen, volks girls on p/s/f window, girl racer sticker on drivers window and revo stickers on the rear 3. needless to say they were all swiftly removed. LGG - i'll pop some pics of the polo up that gave me the idea later. Olly
  8. started to frown the bonnet earlier - well i welde a couple of plates on, now i'm not sure i like it but it's hard to judge when it's all rough and in primer (to keep the snow off the bare metal) obviously will need more work to get it to look right, options are; 1)badboy slant over headlight and leave indicator 2)frown and reduce indicator size to match headlight 3)frown and delete indicator completely suggestions welcomed
  9. exhaust will be straight through to one box hopefully exiting the side. i was thinking along the lines of cream or a tan colour for the dash too. Olly
  10. might have just bought a 'back box' for £20 so i can fabricate my custom exhaust, may start doing some body mods this week too. really undecided what to with the interior though, contemplating painting the dash, also what to do with the door cards..... Olly
  11. it's sitting level but will come down a bit more all round now i have some wheels i can work with. Olly
  12. thanks chaps, didn't get any work done this weekend - saturday was a golf gti box, clutch, gearlinkage replacement and fit coilovers and today was 6n polo lower arm and track rod/end and seam wels a polo g40 gearbox mount and weld in a support bar to brace the mount. good news was i noticed a couple of bits in the corner of his garage - some 14" steels with 195/45/14 uniroyal rubbers and a stock g40 wheel - £115 later they were all mine! fitted them on with some old caps i had laying about sits alot better now gave them a wipe over and the chunkier g40 wheel - needs a good clean though Olly
  13. still @ £505 - 1k is the target max for this build. Olly
  14. refitted the modified loom earlier and wound it over, chucked some fuel in it then fired it up for a couple of seconds - enough to make sure things are ok. now i knew it was all good i could refit the front end oh threw some weld on the egr plate too got lights and everything, haha! bolted the relay plate back in and plugged the clocks in, still deciding what to do with the dash though Olly
  15. thanks chaps, i'm in no rush to complete. had it firing last night but need more petrol to run it, i'm still contemplating pulling it all back out flogging the lump and dropping a 20vt in there. i suppose i should finish it off engine wise then i can sell it as a lupo / arosa conversion. i modified the loom so all the lighting / indicators/ wipers etc loom is from the arosa and the management loom/ecu is from the polo 16v. the polo loom is ok but the light wiring takes a different route across the slam panel and it looks messy and clutters the bay so now it all looks arosa/ lupo oem. Once it's up and running i'll concentrate on the body while i decide to keep the valver in or 20vt it, will be doing some one off body mods but the only time i get to work on it is 4.30 - 7.30 weekdays after work and weekends i'm working on other peoples cars so get no time. Olly
  16. crappy weather dampened my efforts today, got hardly anything done and everything was being difficult. removed the old loom, pulled the dash out and removed the sound deadening to lose some more weight also layed the new loom in place removed the egr valve + pipe + removed the carbon cannister fitted the 16v throttle cable going to modify the loom a bit so pulled it back out again Olly
  17. thanks bud - been thinking about bike carbing it too! got a few bits done tonight, cleaned the bay, fitted the clutch, boltd the gearbox up, cleaned the engine and sat it in place but the dark was doing me in so i left it there for tonight. Olly
  18. but a g40 can put out similar power and be more reliable than a motor converted to run FI, mk3's are a dying breed now anyway. Olly
  19. it's not running within 6 hours - i did it in my mates barn and has no power points, need to weld a custom down pipe and sort out a bit of loom. he also neglected to buy a fmic so that needs fitting up and run some custom boost hoses. Olly
  20. why not G40 it, small block built for FI and can be bought for ~ 1k for engine/box/loom/ecu/charger etc Olly
  21. got home from work at half 4 and started doing some bits by half 6 i'd got this far and packed all the tools away then i hadf to weld some subfrmes to corsa bucket seats for a mate. Olly
