  1. Hello All!

I was just wondering if anyone have noticed if you have only one (driver's side only) working rear fog light or on both sides of the back of your Lupos?

Currently I've installed a bulb on the passanger side (there was an empty space before which I wasn't aware of) but it's not working. So maybe this is the place for a Christmas tree lights' bulb - not the fog light bulb? :-)

    Please advise.

    :-)

    Cheers!

  2. Hey guys,

I've owned my Lupo Sport for about a year now, hoping it'd be a cheap runabout.. however I only ever seem to get about 200 miles to a tank of petrol, which works out at about 30mpg. How does everyone else compare? Admittedly, I had a diesel Golf before the Lupo, which would do a minimum of 45mpg according to the trip computer, but I had expected slightly better from the Sport!

If it is unusually low, is there anything I should look at? I serviced it myself when I bought it, and otherwise its not really given me any trouble.

    Cheers,

    Chris

    Hi

I can do maximum 215 miles of town short journeys from my 1.4s...

I should get a tdi or sth instead of this thirsty little car...

    good luck with yours!

    Cheers!

  3. Hello

    Just a quick question.

It seems that my Lupo is quite loud... (according to the friend of mine who enlighted me this morning). The noise is coming from the exhaust somewhere. I believe that nothing is broken cause I had everything checked recently. However my question is:

If the exhaust (standard) is too loud which indicates that something could be wrong... does it have any effect on car's fuel consumption?

I was told today that it could but would like to know your opinion regarding this.

    Thank you.

  4. there is nothing for it to ledge under it just sits there i am afraid the only other way to make it stay is use double sided tape

Thanks,... I think we should send an official complaint about this part to VW headquarters!

I thought that each and every element in German car should fit perfectly... obviously I was wrong.

    Cheers!

  5. panel seale nothing to worry about, answer to first one if you notice ther are 2 holes about halfway along and they are to attach it to the heater if you hold it up you will see what i mean,it is held up no other way other than that and tucked into the ledge of the parcel shelf, mine fall out quite often,

    Hi

Thank you. The problem with this foam element is that if I'll attach using these 2 mounting points you've mentioned it still doesn't reach far enough to 'lock' at the edge parcel shelf... I thought that it needs to go in between something, but it doesn't look like it's long enough... It's strange...

    Cheers!

  6. Hello again boys and girls!

As all of you probably have noticed we had a nice day today again, so I went to the car to work on some annoying things...

    First thing:

When I bought a car the plastic foam was sticking out from underneath the 'glove' shelf. I was hoping that I can just loosen up the dashboard in this area and re-fit the matt again..... BUT it seems that it's mission impossible! I suspect that this is not a part from my car, cause there's no way it could nicely go everywhere I want...!! Please have a look:

    4528864560_9b82842b19_m.jpg

Do you know if there is a chance to fit it where it should be? Does anybody have a little experience in fitting this element? Please help!

UPDATE UPDATE!! I've managed to put it back in place!! And it... fits! It's not a perfect fit, but nothing is sticking out! So there's a chance to put it back without the need of using double-sided tape. I've advised my mate (Golf Mk4 to do the same: remove and put back again, cause he had the same problem).

    Problem No 2:

Some time ago I've posted on the forum a query regarding a leak in my engine (it's here: http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=63421&st=0&p=765434entry765434 )

Today I've taken some more pictures and I think I know where the problem is coming from:

    4528867592_21feef15c9_m.jpg

    4528866140_2d1467f8cc_m.jpg

Please, please, please do you know what is this part and how expensive it is to repair?

    Problem 3

Finally, I've taken some pictures from underneath the car:

    4528241625_27ab07d7cf_m.jpg

Are these waves of 'plaster' something normal or my car has been badly damaged at some point in the past? I hope that it was just some German engineer having fun in Volksburg....

    Please advise!

Also do you know a good VW mechanic in West London? Who you could recommend to fix my Lupo...

Thank you VERY much in advance.

    Cheers

  7. If you think economy is about going slow (which to be fair is what you said), then maybe you need to rethink your position.

There must be a reason you're getting sub 30mpg, and it's either you, the car or the type of journey you do.

If you really are driving economically (rather than just slowly) then it seems as if the car may need looking at.

    Hi

Let's leave the economical driving techniques on one side...

Because I bought this car without trying any other Lupo earlier therefore I didn't know what are the noise levels expected inside the car... So long story short - I thing that definitely something is wrong with my little green car, cause it's really loud inside. I don't know if this is a bad or good sign but I kind of assume that it's not the engine... When I press the acceleration pedal (on neutral gear) the engine revs really nice and it's really quiet, pleasant sound of the engine working BUT as soon as I start driving there is this increasing 'rolling' sound coming from somewhere (front of the car). Well just a common sense (I'm not mechanic - obviously) there is something wrong (again I understand that when you drive the noise will increase due to the tires, wind etc... but this is different). The things I suspect are: wheel bearings or some parts of transmission ???... again I'm not the mechanic, but surely something is not good. To describe you a little more my drama... I've filled in the tank yesterday and today I did 19 miles and the fuel gauge is 3/4 between the top mark and 3/4 mark... Looking at other people's experience after 19 miles this shouldn't even move.

The car is lovely and is in very good condition,... but it starts to play on my nerves a little.

Do you know any good mechanic in West London who could help?

    Regards

    MickB

  8. It's not really about going slow, it's more about:

    - Using the brake and throttle as little as possible

    - Coasting down big hills / where you can see far ahead enough to slow down without engine braking

    - Keeping as close to 55-60mph as possible at all times where there are no obstructions ahead

I recently got 430 miles out of a tank on my GTI.

    Hi

    I really appreciate your comment...

However I am quite confident that I understand what economical driving is... I've passed my test in 1996 and since then I've driven quite a few cars (plus I raced cars) .... I don't want you to perceive me as being rude, but... when you say you have 430 miles out from GTI I'm loosing my patience... Hope you'll understand.

    Regards

    MickB

    PS

None of the cars I had in the past was that thirsty - even driven 'pedal to the metal' non stop... :(

  9. Hi, my 1.4s does around 200 to a full tank mostly small jouneys. (with roof bars and box on top)

    Hi

Just check mine again.... and well,... 197.5 miles.... and I had to top up 31L of petrol...

I have to say that I was really trying hard to go down with the petrol usage... I was driving oh so slow... and still this MPG nonsense...:huh:

    Cheers

  10. Hello again boys and girls

Today we had a little bit of sunshine in London... so I've decided to open a bonnet to check the oil etc... and I've found this:

    4334326841_8c1c446bf8_m.jpg

    4334325523_a65e020357_m.jpg

    4335069942_2926fd60e1_m.jpg

What do you think about it? Is it something serious and should I be worried about?

Could this be something which is responsible for my bad fuel consumption? (see: http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=63216 )

I look forward to your comments and advise.

    Thank you.

    Cheers

  11. I usualy get 250-300 out of a tank and I drive short journeys and when it does go out for a good run I take on country roads for a blast and usually change gear at 5krpm/5.5krpm

On the magic button, I seem to be able to go about 20miles before the fuel gauge moves after filing up and using the button.

Honestly it doesn't sound good in my case scenario....

  12. Was just a bit of banter :) , but if you look to the very top of the page there is a search function, always an idea to have a search threw old threads just to check the topic hasn`t been coverd before you get raped with sarcasm.

Yes i did learn the hard way .

    Hi :-)

    Thanks for enlightenment ! hehehe

I did use the search function now but,... not very helpful tbh...

    Cheers

    :-)

  13. Nah, I don't think the Fuel Temp sensor is very well documented on here.

Hi in some other place you've said that you didn't really find a proper MPG info since 2004 or sth...

I found out that someone had a 100 miles per tank!! That's a drama!! Well maybe I should start with new spark plugs, or maybe it's the tires... I don't know,,.. it's just doesn't seem right for a small car my MPG...

  14. You get 175 miles out of a full tank? I hope you are joking.

If I use a whole tank uneconomically I get around 250 miles to a tank. If I'm being good then I get about 280 out of my 1.4S 75BHP.

I would say that there is something wrong if you only get 175.

    Hi

well, I'm not joking. That's why I've asked the question cause for me it was hard to believe that the MPG for this car is so poor...

Thanks for your reply. I'll have to keep a good record of my fuel consumption and try to find out what the reason is... don't know where to start really...

Cheers... I'm very sad now ;-(
