  1. More than likely me!!!! Hello!!!!

I've got a 2001 reflex silver Lupo GTI...

What you got?? Let me know and I'll keep an eye out

I've got a Golf+ sticker in the back window as I'm a staff writer for the mag - my Loop's a project car :shades: (just been remapped by AmD)

    Hello!

I drive a white 9n3 Polo GTI but Im on the other side going Kent bound so wouldnt have seen your sticker!

I shall also be paying AmD a visit soon for a cheeky remap.

Wave next time in the milisecond before you speed past

    G

  2. I did a 182 in my standarrd GTi and the lad followed me home to ask what id done to it. Was wet though and he obviously cudnt drive.

Where is the dislike post button?!

My 2 pence: 182/172 is a cheap hot hatch so is fairly quick and bags of fun. Lupo GTI is an expensive warm hatch and is unique but not so fun. I'm not going to comment on specs of the two as I believe the 'full fat' clios are well specced with xenons, air con and half leather seats. A standard GTI cant match that spec.

  3. Figures from http://www.letstorquebhp.com/fwd.asp

What feels faster, and what actually is faster are very different, especially between FI and NA engines.

That website is tosh to be quite honest. Just look at their supposed stats for the Polo GTI 1.6 v Lupo GTI. It has the Polo at 9.4 to 60 and the Lupo at 8.1. Its the same engine and the two cars have VERY similar performances. There is no way the old shape Polo GTI is over 1 second slower to 60 than a Lupo GTI.

That website just calculates everything, the figures arent real.

  4. Polo GTi - 148bhp - 1283kgs - 117bhp/tonne

    Lupo GTi - 125bhp - 978kgs - 129bhp/tonne

BHP/tonne does not lie. I've driven both and I will admit the Polo *feels* faster... probably because of the turbo, they are quite laggy as stock.

Theres obviously different weights being quoted on the net.

I think the Polo has over 40 lb/ft of torque more than the Lupo. This will go some way to overcoming the weight problem. Anyway I'm not hear for an argument. Ive owned both, given my opinions, either take them or leave them.

  5. Polo GTI

    118 bhp/tonne

    0-100 = 26.4 secs

    60-100 = 17.5 secs

    1/4 mile = 17.16

    Lupo GTI

    130 bhp/tonne

    0-100 = 23.8 secs

    60-100 = 15.6secs

    1/4 mile = 16.43secs

In what situation in the current Polo quicker than tha Lupo? I think you are feeling the thump of the turbo rather than anything else, making you think its quicker

I dont know where the hell you got those figures but they look way off to me! Did you use the mk5 Polo gti figures instead?

Pretty sure the curb weight is 1164kg, that would make the bhp/ton: 129bhp. The extra torque makes the in gear times significantly quicker.

  6. I have a Polo GTI and have had a Lupo GTI so I feel I can give a fair comparison.

Firstly the Polo GTI is alot faster than the Lupo. Its also more refined on the motorways which was a plus for me. It grips well but I needed a set of coilovers to stop the body roll. I'm still on standard power and its enough for me at the moment, easily faster and better in gear performance than the Lupo. However the Lupo felt more special. It looks cooler than the Polo but the Polo is more grown up and a natural progression from the Lupo.

    Heres some recent pics:

    Any questions, just ask.

Oh and the Polo doesnt feel heavy at all :)

  7. Its straight forward to be honest Grapo. I used a widescreen monitor with the miniDVI connector for a while, and OS X gives you the usual clone/extended desktop options like you'll be used to with Windows. You can orientate the screen output through 180 degrees too, in case you want to run a monitor on its side to fit A4 pages on it easier.

Set it all up and works brilliantly! Never used two screens on Windows before but this is so cool just dragging stuff onto the second screen

  8. Anyone got any experience with hooking up an external monitor to a Macbook? Planning on using my monitor, connected via mini DVI to DVI, for having pdf's open whilst I type on the Macbook. Does it work well dragging things from screen to screen and having the mouse pointer switch over screens etc.? Any advice?

  9. Thats awesome they are starting to put carbon labels on products - will make people think twice before buying now, or at least give people a choice. Roll on carbon labels on fruit and veg that are flown stupid amounts of miles and placed next to fruit and veg from the UK.

  10. another one of this rap vs singer melee's

take Eminems rap sections out of it .. its still a good track

take Jessica Simpsons singing sections out of it .. and its an awful track

Its not Jessica Simpson, he is taking the piss. Its a chick called Dina Rae or something.

    Poor song

  11. Fair enough, although your missing one key detail. Abarths are built in a different factory in Italy (normal 500's are built in Poland), and they have their own seperate headquarters and facilities.

MG Rover were always lumped together due to the fact money found down the back of the couch kept them running for a few more years.

Just because you like it doesnt mean we have to! Stop bumming it so much.
