Advoid RSD in Daventry there VW specialists. Soo special they have had my car 16 weeks and it still doesnt work!
Yeah think I'll be avoiding them then! Know anything about MJP Motors in Kettering? Calling them tomorrow.
-
Marcus' dad not want to do it then ?
Nope he's too busy at the moment so I'm having to look elsewhere.
I wrote a how to on this, and then im sure a another guy wrote one in more detail, tbh its not as hard as it makes out to be, just more awquad.
Aslong as you or a friend, or both are half decent with a spanner, and have the patience of a saint (those god damb sheer bolts) you should be alright.
If you need any more info or out just PM me.
Thanks for the offer. Unfortunately I've never done anything mechanical on a car so I think it's gonna be too big a job for me. If anyone on the forum is confident doing it/helping me do it then I'll pay the petrol money and £250 for doing it...

I've now had two local garages turning me down as they say the pedal box is too much work... really not impressed tbh as surely it's their job?! Anyone else be able to help me?! I now have all the parts and it's literally a case of fitting them. Any VW specialists in Northants?

Haha I heard if the fishnets came out too it was 15%
Oww you heard the message?? I sound like a posh 'tard on answer phones. Great first impression
-
Thanks Marcus! Just left a message and said you'd recommended him so I've got you some brownie points
-
Haha yeah I think he's in even more dire need than me!
-
Ah thank you! That sounds perfect. What's his name please? I don't want to ring up and ask for Marcus's daddy

If the pedal box has 100% snapped then there is no way in my opinion of telling that clutch is worn. Probably just trying to rake more money out of you.
Few people have had there pedal box on here replaced at garages for £180-£250.
So would you recommend just getting the pedal box done at a local garage and then seeing if it gets through next month's MOT with the same clutch?
-
They have said they'll match any quote I get in writing using genuine VW parts. Is this something that's worth doing or should I just get it done at a local garage? Also is it true they couldn't actually tell if the clutch was worn if the pedal box was gone?
-
I have been quoted over £1100 to fix my pedal box and clutch by VW Kettering which I just can't afford. Does anybody know any garages in the Northamptonshire area who do this job well and cheaper? They're quoting 8 hours labour at £80 an hour.
-
I have just taken my car to a VW dealership in Kettering who told me both my pedal box and clutch have gone. They have quoted me over £1100 to get this fixed as it is going to take 8 hours of labour. To me this sounds an atrocious amount! Anyone have any clue of where I should go from here as I'm not sure I can justify spending that amount but at the same time my Lupo is just too good and means too much to me to scrap or sell as a project. It is driveable at the moment but they said I shouldn't be driving it as it's dangerous.

i played a gig in Peterborough last night! just thought id add that to the topic! haha
Really?? Let me guess... Club Revolution? Or maybe Met?

Me and Lance are onto organising something over the next few weeks so will keep you all posted.
-
Yeah you've got that right! I'm only there three days a week for college and it does my head in haha.
-
I think we do too =] Whereabouts?
-
Oh and also I was determined not to let that Audi infront of me at the traffic lights, he didn't look impressed haha. Lupo convoy can't be broken up!
-
Aww old Scirocco's are cool though, I'd love to see it I'm hoping to have enough pennies saved to have my Loop lowered and on some nice steelies before the end of term but I'm not sure that's gonna happen! If I do then I apologise if you're stuck behind me when I go over the speed bumps x
-
See a couple of Lupos at my college regularly, one more recently than the other. A black I think 1.4 which was lowered on different wheels for a while but now appears to be back to standard. And one I followed today, soft blue with a de-wiper rear, white VW badge and the rest of the badges removed. I'm in the little red Loop =]
-
Yeah I've decided it's too much hassle. They've gone on ebay and prob gonna buy some g60 steels or P-Slots for now. Thanks for your help everyone anyway =]
-
Just some little updates =]
-
Owww! I'm not original lol. Glad it looked cool though =]
-
Thank you! I'm going to spray the steelie red so it's got a red outer and maybe white wall tyres... But I'm not sure it's going to work!
-
Yeah I think you're prob right... They have 2 holes on either side so 4 in total.

I had a bit of an impulse buy at Santa Pod today on a set of Beetle hub caps. I now can't see how I'm going to fit them! Is it possible? If not I'll just stick 'em on ebay. They're around about 9 inches in diameter. HELP!
Recommendations on good garages to fix pedal boxes in Northants area?
