Hi guys

I recently changed the engine on my lupo auto

Since the swap it runs lumpy for about 10 seconds and just cuts out, the electric throttle won't work at all and it doesn't rev...

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Cheers

Sam

I haven't tried vagcom but I'm considering buying one,

Are those codes useless?

The original throttle body wasnt cable so a a straight swap

I rang the guy who sold me the engine and he read the ECU part number out to me, it was all the same bar the last two letters... They were different would this be the case? The engine is 2 years newer than the car its going into

Its got an map sensor as far as I'm aware, there was this little pipe PIC taken from another thread..

But the end of it snapped off, I have another but didn't think it would make such an impact, would the ECU numbers being different be the issue? Or would it not fire at all?

Thanks for your help

I don't know about this engine BUT in other cars having the MAF not in the right place or not even in the intake would make it do that. In another car I had which had a MAP sensor if it was unplugged it would go crazy and die as you say.

It should still fire but I personally think that is the most likely culprit. The MAP or MAF sensors know air flow etc and without them the car doesn't know what it's doing.

Hopefully someone with more knowledge can help.

thanks for the help, it turned out to be a bad crank sensor inside the gearbox, the phenom ring wasn't at TDC when the engine was... heres a pic of it timed up for those who didnt know
