  1. Hi guys, need some help! I've over filled the engine oil, so i need to take some out, before I do some serious damage, or would it? I would be very grateful if some body could tell me the Size of the socket for the Nut on the oil sump and any additional advice would be nice. Thanks guys
  2. Hello, Creaking sounds? I had that shortly after the first service( coincidence!) But My Local VAG deal couldn't sort it out. I eventually located the problem. Well, my creaking was coming from Tail Gate Hinge. Every time i I'd go around a round about, or a tight bend, it would " `click-click`- click!" Drove me crazy!! I didn't think this happens to new(ish) cars. I Solved it by using a solvent cleaner, but unfortunatly it took some of the paint too, so i don't recommend it. Try cleaning the hinge and use plenty of PTFE lub.
  3. Thanks very much guys. Anyone know what the torque/ power curve look like on the sport?
  4. Just out of curiosity whats the idle speed on the sport? I'm a owner of a 1.4, just wanna do some investigating. Had a theory that the sport had a lighter flywheel, but found out from VW that 1.4 and sport has same part, so there must be summat else that makes sport easier to rev. I'm thinking about the crank shaft. Only obvious difference i've found is the inlet manifold, VW was kind enough to give me the assembly diagram of the sport and 1.4. 1.4 has a much longer inlet. Bigger valves on the sport? I've noticed that the sport has a different engine code, AUB. So it must have a different engine. Which engine did they make first? 1.4(AHW) and then tuned that to sport(AUB) or the other way round? There must be summat thats significantly different about that engine? Anyone got one of those VW assembly CDROMS with all the diagrams. if so, email me style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> I don't wanna mod my car, as it would cost way too much to get any significant improvement. just wanna see what VW have done.
  5. Other than VW, know anywhere i can get one?
  6. I always thought that exhaust is pretty much the same, just that the Trim is different, or in the 1.4's Case it don't have any  Do any of you guys have the part number for the Sport inlet maniford and Flywheel? I'll show you what I mean. ( if i can get the pic to load) border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> <img else http://members.fortunecity.co.uk/manicphan...om/inletman.jpg On the left is the standard Inlet and on the right is the Sport. As you can see the sport is larger in diametre and also longer. From the poor picture it looks as though it might be compatible. But i don't know some opinions would be nice, tell me what you think. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  7. Have you had a look at the 1.4 75 ps engine datasheet? Unfortunately its all in german. But it also features the 1.6 polo gti engine. not sure if thats the same as the lupo, but it may mean that the gti engine may be related to the 1.4 75ps block. I'm dreaming here, but it'd be nice to put the VVT head on my car style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> anyway the link: http://volkswagen.msk.ru/engine/ahw_akq_ajv.pdf
  8. I don't think that it would be forged pistons, but its just a thought as the sport is capable of running at higher revs. there is also the possiblity of a uprated throttle body. I remember one of the guys here said that the the polo sport has the GTI throttle body. This would perhaps explain why the throttle is so sluggish on the 1.4. Look at the manual, and look at the times for the 1st and second gears, and compare them with the sport, they don't differ that much, only when you change to third does the time extend. It takes 4 secs to get from 50mph to 60mph, thats stupid!!!!
  9. Hello there, I have a 75ps Lupo too and i've been wondering about what the differences are. I think I have a good idea of the main differences are, tell me what you think. Lupo sport has: 1) Lighter flywheel hence the same amount of touque at higher revs. My GCSE physics tell me that Torque=inertia x Angular acc. 2) Looking at the K&N induction kit manual for the lup it shows that the inlet manifold for sport is alot bigger. 3) Possibly slightly different gearing for the sport to allow the 2nd gear to do 60mph. 4) Forged pistons?? 5) A more sportier ECU? Looking at the Mpg i don't think that the cams are any different. So i think to turn the 1.4 lup into a sport would cost a fair amount of money.
  10. Sounds like you're alittle unlucky, Though i have my fair share of problems, only had mine for 11k miles from new. Front indicators not working the 1st day ( idiots forgot to plug them in style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" /> ) Faulty Engine speed sensor. Bug in the ECU that triggers the EPC and check engine lights. Mysterious creaking sound going around corners, turns out to be the tail gate hinges. This is my first car, so i guess this is probably normal for all motorist, but kinda expected alittle more from VW.
  11. I took my Lup in for a service last month, and i heard that they've stop making 'em. Is the petrol tank bigger in the GTI? Because i have to fill up quite regulary ???
  12. Second opinion: VW Lupo brochure 2003 model States: 2nd paragraph - "The secret of the Lupo GTI's performance capability is a combination of the engine efficiency and the lightweight constuction. Its 16 valve engine features VARIABLE VALVE TIMING on the inlet camshaft, leading to a flatter torque curve." Ha! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
  13. I thought about that too, But i think its only the GTI 1.6 engine that has Variable valve timing, i'm sure that guys here will be able to confirm this, i'm pretty sure thats what it says in the Brochure. The engine management definately need changing tho.
  14. Thanks for the reply, i'm glad that i'm not the only one who thinks about this. I think i'll try and get hold of a Lupo sport inlet manifold and see if a Garage will fit it style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />. The next question would be the fuel injectors and would would they be similar? If it can be fitted, in theory, i should get alot more throttle response and i might even get more acceleration, even without chipping it style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />. I'm sure it won't be easy, but it should be fun style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />.
