But again that presents a lot more hassle for yourself!I'm only new here, but Rich's offer seems very reasonable considering, if I was closer to yourself, I'd be offering similar money to him for it. Skezza Posted November 18, 2014 Report Share Posted November 18, 2014 Think about this, you've learnt that if you try to sell it you're going to be offered a grand.The underlying issue is the engine.I've got a fair bit of Lupo stock atm so if you provide me with enough incentive you can come up, drop the car off, go to the metro centre, have a spot of lunch and do some shopping, go to the cinema, seduce some geordie birds and then come pick your car up with the engine issue sorted and I'll then annex your oil burner for the next refurbishment/sucker.If you're ever going to consider getting an engine rebuild then you should also consider where to get this done.I bought a GTI last week which had been rebuilt at what looked to be a reputable vw specialist, the bill was over 1k, the engine hadn't left the car and the rod bolts were either recycled or simply the wrong ones, haven't got into that yet but he got two months out of it and the whole thing is simply fodder.ring around, get some quotes and then make me an offer. Pete Posted November 18, 2014 Report Share Posted November 18, 2014 Breaking it is the best option for actual money reclaim, but as has been said, it's the stripping, possible postage, so if you found someone who's after a full rolling car with some big issues, them taking it off your hands and the hassle of it means it's their labour and their hassle, so you won't get offered the price you want and think deserve for the easier option of the two. Nice Cathedral.Plenty to do while Mr Rich fits a new GTi engine I would say. There's a great pub in the middle of town, I think it's called the Market Tavern. Used to frequent there quite a lot. Although to be honest, I went every pub far too often. There's one called the Swan & Three I think? Sold Taddy Lager. Top stuff. No idea if it's still there but not too far a long is a Varsity which was a great night on a Monday when they used to do £1 entry, £1 drinks. Rich Posted November 18, 2014 Report Share Posted November 18, 2014 2007-8 I was working at the hide bar.I wouldn't offer 1500, if you want to get 1500 for it then just drop the oil, fill it half with 15/40 and half with gearbox oil, clean out traces of the oil burning and you'll eliminate the problem for a bit giving you time to scarper.meet them in a public place, ideally away from where you live, grow a beard for the occasion, wear a cap and let your mrs dress you.
