rockey5uk2001
After having the car for a few weeks another problem has reared its ugly head!she seems to be having an identity crisis!she think's shes a diesel in the respect of shes started to burn oil.i have done some research and found the common causes.unclipped the air box - smoke seems to be coming into the air box - going to take the breather box off and give it a clean.got a compresser test on the way!It only seems to do it when i boot it - and when shes warm - in terms of loss this also varies looking about 2 litres every 150 miles or so again not hugely consistant. My Plan saturday the gear box is comming off anyway need to sort the cat exhaust join out aswell - so going to take the breather box off and clean or replace.& Do a compression test.73k seems a really low miliage for something like the piston rings to fail - im hoping the breather box is the suspect!if anyone has any helpful hints or advice please share )
Bibbles
Mines doing the same thing. Found a layer of oil in the intake manifold and all around the oil breather.
rockey5uk2001
i also noticed that when the CAT was replaced its not been fitted properly and is a bit loose.im thinking the car could be loosing back pressure and this is contributing towards the issue of oil burning

rockey5uk2001
So had the breather box off on the weekend and its full of gunk needs replacing really.however as a tempory soloution i have cleaned it out and it seem's to have improved.found out whilst under the car the back box is starting to fall apart this will cause a pressure drop meaning the valves might not be closing properly.i have sealed it for now but needs replacing.due to limited space im going to knock something up "custom" with a universal back box and some pipe work ill buy off ebay and get bent!
