Ralphch97
Hello, sorry if I have posted in the wrong place, I'm new to this!My VW Lupo 1.0 has a whining noise when being driven, in neutral on stand still the is no noise, also when the clutch is pushed down the is no noise when being driven. The noise occurs straight from pull off and then gets louder as I progress up the gears. On a previous mot advisory when I didn't have the car, the was an advisory saying gearbox noisy, and on my mot 5 days ago, I got advised on exhaust manifold gasket, I know that might not be relevant but...Does it seem like a gearbox fault? Release bearing? A bearing gone?Help please, I'm fussy with any little noise! Thanks - Ralph!
Karl_Mac_
Sounds like your gearbox is tanked. Difficult to say what it might be without seeing it.

Nathan94
Try record the noise and post it up? My gearbox went without much notice, started whining on the motorway, I knew what was coming, few minutes later, dead.If it is the gearbox and it does good it should be able to see you home with a lot of swearing, smells and noise! Haha
